Court Affirms Custody Case Involving Allegations Of Wicca

Author: Arkansas News Bureau Source: Arkansas News Bureau

Title: COURT AFFIRMS CUSTODY CASE INVOLVING ALLEGATIONS OF WICCA
A Southeast Arkansas woman who argued she lost custody of her son because of a judge's perception of her alleged practice of Wicca lost her appeal Wednesday before a divided state Court of Appeals Wednesday.
In a 4-2 ruling, the appeals court affirmed a decision granting custody to the child's father, though the judges disagreed on whether the lower court considered the mother's religious beliefs.
In her appeal of Chicot County Circuit Judge Robert Vittitow's decision, the mother noted Vittitow described Wicca in his opinion letter as "a religion, movement, cult or whatever it that may be."

Mysteries Child (Garfield, Arkansas) - Email Me

...why I stayed with my husband after he beat me, accused me of adultery, raped me repeatedly, and threatened me into using my savings to buy a falling-down piece-of-sh*t fishing cabin for us to live in.
Aside from the fact that I supported him all the way through engineering school, and want at least health insurance to get us through until the last of our kids are in school for my pains???
I'm Pagan. I'm a depressive. I have Asperger's. I hang around with guys. I have no marketable skills, and now very little money.
If I left, unless I went to the ER with evidence of vaginal and anal trauma and somehow got the police to back me up, thus dragging my children through not only a divorce but a criminal prosecution, there is no way in Hell I would ever see my children again.
So I deemed it better to stay put, go along with him, and eventually guil-trip (read: emotionally abuse) him into treating me better.
Moral of this story?? All you young people out there, especially you young women-- IF THERE IS A SINGLE SHADOW OF A SINGLE DOUBT IN YOUR MIND, DON'T GET MARRIED. Misogyny is alive and well, along with plenty of other forms of discrimination, and a women with children is about the most disadvantaged creature in existence in our society.
It is, in my opinion, far better to be a single mother with a bastard child than to place yourself in the thrall of someone who's bigger, stronger, and more powerful than you are...
...not to mention placing yourself at the mercy of a legal system that is entirely biased, if not necessarily on grounds of religion, then always on grounds of wealth.
