Damien Echols Speaks

Title: DAMIEN ECHOLS SPEAKS
It has been 15 years since Damien Echols was sentenced to die for the murders of three 8-year-old boys in West Memphis.
He claims he and the other two convicted of the heinous killings have what they need to prove they are innocent. Surrounded by guards in Arkansas' only super-max prison, Damien Echols is shackled at the hands and feet.
(Damien Echols, Death Row Inmate) "Every single morning for the past 15 years I've had to wake up in a prison cell knowing I should have never been there in the first place. They took from me the entire decade of my 20's. I'm now in my 30's. They are taking my 30's. I've lost 15 Christmas', 15 Thanksgivings... my son has had to grow up without his father."
Treated as one of the most dangerous criminals in the state, Echols is one of only about 40 inmates on Arkansas' death row.

I'm tempted, sorely tempted, to put half a dozen casseroles in the freezer, line up a babysitter for about 14 days, and go get myself arrested. I've got a whole fam damily to think about...
...but sometimes, maybe, the world you're leaving your kids really is more important than what's for dinner, who's reading their bedtime story, and why Mommy won't be home until somebody posts her bail.
In other thoughts...
It doesn't take a hillbilly to get emotional and think more about personal glory and getting a conviction, fast, than about making sure the guilty f*ckh**d is the one getting convicted. I have said before and will say again-- people get railroaded in all kinds of places. It can happen anywhere, and any time, that some bigoted *ssh*l*s assume that "THEY," whoever "THEY" may be, are necessarily evil; anywhere and any time that some self-righteous, self-important, vengeful little-minded sot decides that s/he cannot have made a mistake, that the appearance of **being right** is more important than the actuality of **doing right**.
Food for thought.
Because, if anyone can do it, the only thing that keeps us from doing it too is that we have not yet acquired sufficient power to perpetrate the crime.

This shining example of xian hillbilly justice has gone on long enough. If Mr. Echols were smart, he'd haul ass out of Arkansas the second they set him free. You know those idiots in West Memphis will try to train their guns in his direction.

This has gone on long enough. Now with parents of the boys that were killed asking for a retrial...there might be hope after all! The fact that the one that the evidence points to being the guilty one is the only one not wanting a retrial is only making him stand out even more. Personally, the three boys had to have known the people that killed them. They had to trust them to have vanished and not paniced or fought. So who knows. Maybe justice will be done after all!
