Going Goddess

  Why a month to celebrate goddesses?
Well, there are two main reasons. The first is standard. March is Women's History Month, and so it is fitting that women are celebrated then.
The second gets to the core of the Goddess Festival, a new event in Fayetteville, a little faster.
"We've been silent for too many years, and we've found our voice," said Vick Kelley, one of the Goddess Festival's co-producers. "And we won't get it all said this month."
Last summer, she and a group of friends decided the time was right to create a new festival, one that would go beyond the scope of the first one and create a positive environment for women - and men - to celebrate the power of a female deity.
