Reward For Capture Of Duck Killer Grows

Author: Mike Branom Source: East Valley Tribune (AZ)

Title: REWARD FOR CAPTURE OF DUCK KILLER GROWS
The reward is growing for the arrest and conviction of whomever has killed dozens of waterfowl at Scottsdale’s Chaparral Park.
A $1,200 donation from the Southwest chapter of Witches Against Animal Abuse, announced Monday, pushes the total to $10,000.
“We are terribly concerned about this senseless act of animal cruelty,” chapter director Pat Jarrett said in a statement. “Witches Against Animal Abuse embraces the ethic of respect and compassion for all Mother Earth’s creatures.”
Since mid-April, ducks and geese have been found fatally beaten at the park.

| Might Be A Wild Animal... | Jul 18th. at 9:57:23 pm EDT

A.C. Fisher Aldag (Bangor, Michigan) - Email Me

We have a small farm with ducks and chickens.
One raccoon, wild dog, or coyote can rip thru a duck flock like a hot knife thru butter. Coons kill for sport. We've lost 20 chickens in one nightto a single coon with an attitude. And yeah, some of 'em looked as if they were bludgeoned.
Before accusing any human perp, I think the park authorities need to stay up all night and observe their flock for a week. See if their ducks aren't getting slaughtered by a wild animal. They might have to provide a shelter and lock Donald and Daisy up at night.
However, it was cool to see the Witch anti-cruelty group mentioned in such a positive way!

| Not A Good Month For Ducks... | Jul 18th. at 8:58:15 am EDT

Nascent One (Oviedo, Florida) - Email Me

Earlier this month, we had a rash of mallard duck deaths here in Orlando. Quote from our local paper:
"The number of mysterious mallard deaths at Lake Monroe has reached nearly 70, and state wildlife investigators have no idea why the ducks are dying. They have been dying from one a day, up to 34 in a single day."
Pollution, or some sort of alage is suspected, but the weird thing is that only mallard ducks were affected. Other ducks and seagulls that live in the lake are fine.
I sincerely hope that in this case, it is just some rogue dog or large cat. There is enough violence in the world without some sicko going around beating ducks to death for the fun of it. (Like the 14yr old who was arrested and convicted for beating up a homeless man.)

I hope they catch the perpetrators. Killing an animal for food is one thing- but this is outright slaughter for little reason save pleasure over killing something that can't fight back. I'm glad that this shows witches in a positive light. My hopes for positive results.

First - Let them catch the culprit (s) quickly before any others are attacked.
Second, and I think significantly, has got to be the visible and very positive press this will give the local Witches group. It is very generous of them to do that and it shows, in a material way, to folks who might think otherwise what they really feel and that they will act on it.
Cheers! To a very positive action to a very negative action!
