United States Congress Dedicates Capitol Building To Jesus Christ (*Spoof)

Author: Landover Baptist   Source: Landover Baptist

Title: UNITED STATES CONGRESS DEDICATES CAPITOL BUILDING TO JESUS CHRIST

As part of a national Christian effort to continue the U.S. Congressional Jumpstart for Jesus program led by the Chaplain of the United States Senate, the Congressional Prayer Breakfast and dozens of Evangelical congressmen, a symbolic cross of Jesus Christ will be placed above the U.S. Capitol Building for a period of three months (and God willing, indefinitely) beginning on the Lord's birthday, December 25, 2007.

Last Tuesday, Landover Baptist's Pastor Deacon Fred was invited to meet with congressmen and speak on the Senate floor. There he announced a financial victory in the name of Jesus Christ. "I am proud to be here on the Senate floor giving glory to God and announcing a victory for True Christians™," he said. "Since mid-July, we've raised over $83 million to tear down the pagan idol on top of this building and replace it with the cross of America's Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

I'm surprised they haven't yet. It's only a matter of time, true believers. Some dyspeptic old Senatorial heel will rouse from his mid- Congressional nap and think of it.
All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!

Godless Bless Jerry Falwell, for expelling the founders of Landover Baptist from his seminary.

The "Jesus Crowd" isn't the boogeyman. They aren't going to come out from under the stairs. They aren't laying in wait, hungry for Pagan flesh, nor dreaming of burnings, hangings, or drownings. Those of you who react to such satire with dire warnings and a clear lacking of a sense of humor need to relax. Let me point a few things out:

1. Christians were once a LOT more powerful than they are today.

2. The trend has always been an increase in tolerance and rights for minority faiths.

3. It was Christians (not witches, Wiccans, Pagans and/or Heathens) that effected this change. That's right. Your ability to practice as you please was championed for and bled for by Christians.

4. If the above three statements are true (they are) then any rabid mouthings about the Christians being out to get us are at best ridiculous, at worst delusional.

I am not a Christian. I've never been a Christian. Why is it I don't fear them? Why is it I have no problem interacting with them, having friends among them, and so on? Why is it most Pagans like myself (people who have NEVER been Christians) feel the same as me? Why is it "convert" witches, Wiccans, Pagans, and/or Heathens always seem to think the Crusades are at their door? Could it be this "us versus them" mentality is something they couldn't leave behind. Could it be that they bring that mindset under the Pagan Umbrella where it spreads like poison? I think these are fair questions.

Goddess forbid! I know it's satire, but there's always a touch of truth within, something of this magnitude would surely drive us all underground again. *sniffs* Is that a bonfire for us Witches I smell?
Brightest Blessings to all!!

Satire About The Xtians Is Getting Harder ... Aug 26th. at 7:42:49 pm EDT

Opus the Poet (Garland, Texas) - Email Me - Web

Satire, to be effective has to be over the top, beyond the pale, "out there". With the Xtian Dominionist antics this is getting harder and harder. You just never know what those loonies are going to do next.
