Secret Service Logs Of White House Visitors Are Public Records, Judge Rules

Author: Michael Abramowitz Source: Washington Post (Blog)

Title: SECRET SERVICE LOGS OF WHITE HOUSE VISITORS ARE PUBLIC RECORDS, JUDGE RULES
A federal judge ruled yesterday that White House visitor logs created by the Secret Service are public records, and he ordered information involving the visits of nine conservative Christian leaders with Bush administration officials to be released to an advocacy group.
The dispute involved an effort by the administration to keep secret the records, which have traditionally allowed the news media and Congress to keep tabs on who has visited the White House or the vice president's residence. Administration lawyers have taken the position that the logs are presidential records, outside the scope of the Freedom of Information Act.
U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth rejected this argument, saying the records qualify as "agency records" subject to disclosure. He also rejected the claim that the records should be kept secret to preserve the confidentiality of presidential and vice presidential deliberations, noting that even a Cheney aide testified that the purpose of the visits is not apparent from the documents.

Paul the StormWalker (TUCKER!, Georgia) - Email Me

The Clinton's didn't just deal with drug dealers, Billy broke away from the kneeling interns long enough to pardon a list of drug dealers and other known and convicted criminals before he left office.
(And before anybody brings up the Libby - he was convicted of perjury - they determined he lied about something that the same investigation found was not actually a crime. In contrast to the aforementioned President Clinton. He was not impeached for getting head, he was impeached for lying under oath. And what did he lie about? Extramarital affairs. In what context? Depositions in a civil case being brought against him under the Violence Against Women Act, a law he was touted as a feminist hero for signing. And what does that law do? Makes it easier to bring civil charges against sexual predators... So Bill lied to get out of sexual assault charges brought under a law that he was called a feminist hero for signing. And the non-thinking women of the left still call him a hero....)
Meanwhile, White House visits. Sure, public record. Who cares if George Bush talked to several preachers.
At least he wasn't fawning all over Richard Dryfess -- you might remember that after Clinton was elected this Very Important Hollywood Actor turned up at the white house to meet with the president with his very own foreign policy adviser. That's right, folks. A FREAKING ACTOR getting foreign policy briefings from the President. (Sort of like when Jessica Lange or somebody or other testified in front of Congress about the plight of farmers because she had played a farmer's wife in a movie...)
Yeah, let's have the Secret Service files part of Public Record. The Service has such fond memories of Hillary and her insults and putdowns an abusive temper tantrums toward agents. On the off chance she is actually elected... , however she's elected. The Secret Service remembers her past acts well... we'd know every time some leftwing hollywood loony visits, everytime some leftist dictator visits, every time a criminal who paid for access drops by...

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

Does a person have the right to visit with people in his home, or to conspire with people in his office? Do Clergy have a right to visit people in confidence, or to have their visits held in confidence? This idiot is in the Chain of Command for JAG and for the Soliciter General's Office, so maybe these false hearted clerics were seeking Counsel.
Really, if he wants to work in a smoke filled room, Congress is right down the street, and he's president of that place; he shouldn' t be such a stranger.
He gives good and valuable political promises, for the votes these people represent, and they should call on him to keep them, even if that means he should be impeached.
So, how is a person to have any privacy in a fish bowl?

Neither the Clinton Dynasty or the Bush Dynasty are above the law no matter what they would like to believe.
Christian conservatives be dammed, for now I just want the juicy details of both Jeff Gannons comings and goings see here: [Web LINK] and Jack Abramoff's comings and goings: [Web LINK]
About Jeff Gannon:
White House records Democratic Representatives John Conyers of Michigan and Louise Slaughter of New York had submitted similar requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) , on February 15, 2005. The Louise Slaughter request was answered by the Department of Homeland Security with Secret Service records of Mr. Gannon's check in and out times at the White House.[24] The Secret Service Records appear to show that Gannon checked in, but never checked out on many occasions, and visited the White House on several days during which no press conference or other press events were held.[25] In a 2007 interview, Gannon stated that he has never spent the night at the White House.
From here: [Web LINK]
About Jack Abramoff:
Newly released visitor logs show disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff was signed in to the White House complex on two occasions since President Bush took office in 2001, including once when the president was out of town.
However, Secret Service officials concede the electronic records are not comprehensive and that Abramoff may have entered the complex on other occasions as a member of a pre-arranged group, which would not show up in the logs.
The logs do not reflect a known meeting between Abramoff and Bush in May 2001 at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House, where they were photographed together.
Also, White House aides have previously confirmed that Abramoff attended holiday parties at the White House, as well as some "staff-level meetings" that also are not documented in the logs.

... dates here.
It was the Regan administration that had all the interaction with the drug dealers and gun runners.
