Reputation As Satan's Lair Bedevils Washington

Author: Dan Morse, Washington Post   Source: tampabay.com

Title: REPUTATION AS SATAN'S LAIR BEDEVILS WASHINGTON

Presidential candidate John McCain keeps calling Washington the city of Satan. Turns out he's not alone.

"McCain was right," said David Bay, speaking by phone from Lexington, S.C., where as director of Cutting Edge Ministries he has long asserted that Washington's streets are positioned to usher in Lucifer as "the ultimate master of Government Center."

Using Dupont and Logan circles as northern points, Bay instructs, you can trace various interlocking streets to form a demonic pentagram, one that bores directly into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

"It must be true; it's on the Internet," British tourist Larraine Wolman said in perfect deadpan while gazing at the White House recently.

Do Y'All Remember When... Apr 19th. at 8:14:59 pm EDT

McCain used to rant (rightfully so) about how his party had been taken over by the Religious Right? Now, ever since he's seen the unquestioned loyality GW got after his "profession of faith" from the Evangelicals and all others who want to see a nuclear Armageddon happen NOW, little Johnny has gone all "religious" and is bending over for the very forces that he blasted so bravely before. I don't trust him for an instant, and I don't trust Hill of a Thousand Faces (in New York, she's a Jewish Intellectual, down South, she's a Baptist barbeque lover, at colleges a feministe mover and shaker, in rural towns she's a gun right advocate, etc.) . I know who McCain is, and I don't remotely trust him. I don't know who Hillary is (I doubt she does either) , and I don't buy any of her "personas". Obama's certainly not perfect (Rev. Wright was a racist pig by anyone's definition) , but alas he's the best we've got. And I have to agree with Fred Lawrence: Washington obviously isn't run by Satan since He is supposed to be intelligent and most intellectuals are weeded out early on for "not being one of the folks" (as if Yale frat boys who have never had to work a day in their lives and have coasted on daddy's money and power can understand the plight of the blue collar man) . No, Satan doesn't run Washington; maybe Clearwater, Florida (don't zap me, Tom) !

All Joking Aside Apr 18th. at 1:03:58 pm EDT

And I DO realize how easy it is to joke about this whole article- but did anyone catch McCains comment about how hard it is to "do the Lords work" in the city of Satan? We think Dumbya is bad? McCain says this, talks about 100 years of war in Iraq, AND admits he doesn't really know anything about the economy, too? Seems to me that America has far more to fear from ignorance and insanity than about whether somebody plays connect the dots with a streetmap, and comes up with something they don't like.

This Doesn't Make Sense! Apr 18th. at 11:05:52 am EDT

Fred Lawrence (Kansas City, Kansas) - Email Me

The idea that Satan is running Washington DC doesn't make a bit of sense. After all, in all the stories told about His (mythical) Satanic Majesty, he's depicted as being very intelligent. Nobody would consider Dubya and the other idiots in the current administration to be intelligent.

I'm not sure how much I am joking about this matter.

Oh, That Was Such A Good Read! Apr 17th. at 9:09:27 pm EDT

DodiaFae (Rhode Island, Rhode Island) - Email Me

That was just too funny!

BTW, I also looked it up on Google maps (the secret service must be going bananas with all he people that must be Googling this today!) and, while it's stretching it a bit, you can sort of see the inverted start there:
[Web LINK]
Though there is one line missing from the bottom left, and the southern point is nearly non-existent, unless you count the Google arrow that points to the address. But hey, that's pretty cool, nonetheless.

Also, I would like to point out to those of you who hadn't caught on, the woman who made this comment:
"It must be true; it's on the Internet,"
is, in fact, from England, and she was being sarcastic. I *love* British humor, don't you? If you read the rest of that paragraph, you'd have seen:
"It must be true; it's on the Internet," British tourist Larraine Wolman said in perfect deadpan while gazing at the White House recently.

For those of you who don't know what "deadpan" means: [Web LINK]

Honestly, this is the most amusing thing I've read on Vox in ages!

Poor McCain Apr 17th. at 8:26:17 pm EDT

Dana Corby (Anderson Island, Washington) - Email Me

I used to respect John McCain despite his being a conservative and my being a liberal, because he was intelligent, didn't fall into lockstep with the rest of his party all the time, and seemed to genuinely add to the discourse in the Senate. In recent years, though, he has turned into something of a joke, listening to and then regurgitating all sorts of irrational, superstitious twaddle.

Perhaps, as he gets old, he's 'cramming for his finals,' as my mother said of her mother when she got religious in her last years. Of perhaps he's suddenly realized that his name means 'son of Cain' and he's trying to prove he isn't. Either way, i shudder at the thought of another person that effed-up in the White House. Again.

This sounds like something right out of some Hollywood action movie. I guess people will find conspiracy where ever they want.

You Realise... Apr 17th. at 3:41:14 pm EDT

Still... Yanks are screwy.

Unbelievable Apr 17th. at 3:27:59 pm EDT

Moonlight Wolf (Bradford, England) - Email Me

People actually suck this up?! Based on what, a road map. I don't really think lumping Masons with Satanists is any more accurate as lumping Pagans with Satanists. (They should capitalise Pagan as well.) Some people definately need to actually try and learn the difference between a theory and a fact.

And this ladies and gentleman takes the booby prize for the dumbest statement of all times.

"It's on the Internet, it must be true."
