For The Christians Regarding The Indian River Incident

Author: Pastordan   Source: Street Prophets

Title: FOR THE CHRISTIANS

By now you are probably aware of what Jesus' General is calling "The Indian River Pogrom": as originally reported by Jews on First (see link):

“A large Delaware school district promoted Christianity so aggressively that a Jewish family felt it necessary to move to Wilmington, two hours away, because they feared retaliation for filing a lawsuit. The religion (if any) of a second family in the lawsuit is not known, because they're suing as Jane and John Doe; they also fear retaliation. Both families are asking relief from "state-sponsored religion."

Later, it came out that a group called Stop The ACLU published the address and phone number of this family in an effort to "expose ACLU plaintiffs."

I am amazed and appalled that such a thing needs to be said, but what happened at Indian River is utterly against Christian belief and practice.

I Believe In Letting The Christians Proselytize... Jul 9th. at 5:24:22 pm EDT

...and even I think this is going entirely too far.

Their behavior marks them as Anti-Christ-ian. People who, whatever they think they are doing, besmirch the Name and drive people from even caring to understand what He did.

Still don't think this makes it right to ban any public display of religion. Still see a huge difference between this and, say, a painting.

Still think letting these people set the standard for how Christianity is perceived and treated is, in effect, handing them a victory.

But that's just me. And maybe universal silence is the best we can do. But I still don't want to think so. Not yet. Not ever.

Lack Of Faith Jul 9th. at 11:45:13 am EDT

Those who must convert every non-believer around them before they can feel secure suffer from a lack of real faith.

Real faith can stand alone. You can be the only one in your community or one of a handful and never waiver no matter how many threats you receive. The ones with real faith in this story are the victims of the insecure 'Christianists' as the author calls them.

...when he said,

"When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

It saddens me to see that a group titled "Stop the ACLU". Let's break this down. This group wants to stop our American Civil Liberties. Am I misinterpreting anything on this? The person running this site blathers something hateful regarding anyone open-minded, non-christian, or not part of the majority, albeit whatever that may entail. They want to stop anything that isn't just like them, which usually means - caucasian & christian, and isn't this ironic in the land of the free, or is it just simply now the home of the very bravest among us in certain parts of this country that dare be different in any way. My family & I were in Oklahoma for about a year, and I've never seen so many churches and so much hate in one place. How sad for them that people that think this way will spend their lives wanting to control others and realize that control is but an illusion and that with a bit of chaos, there is no progress, no growth, and (gasp) , no evolution of the mind, of the spirit, or of society.
Walk in beauty, everyone at witchvox, and everyone who reads this. We all matter, we all are sacred, and all of us who do subscribe to an open-minded approach to life - in one way or another, we ARE making a difference....

Nazi Tactics Still Work Well Enough Jul 8th. at 5:13:30 pm EDT

These Fundies are not looking for a state sponsored religion. They are looking to be the government - and the judges, juries and executioners of those they disagree with one way or another.
When you are a single family surrounded by this malevolent hypocrisy, it is hard to stand up and be counted because they don't play fair. They target your home, your children, your pets, your job and your friends- not necessarily in that order. They threaten, harass and attack. In order to get what they want- even kidnapping and murder is not out of the question.
And in some cases, even the police are on their side. Sometimes leaving becomes ones only option to survive. I feel for those who had to leave because the creeps are in the majority.
We must stand enmass in order to protect ourselves and petition and demand a government crackdown on this type of behavior- and demand an accounting of all officials that side with these creeps. Otherwise running and hiding is all we will ever do.

to bloom that all of this type of hate-mongering blithering-idiot bigot is busily engaged in the so-called "Christian Exodus" to South Carolina, an incident like this re-occurs again and again, showing us that these "Christianists" (nice phrase, that) are hell-bent on creating the police theocracy which their leaders write and cry out about.

These willing slaves, so ready to subjugate themselves to politicians and preachers who find biblical scripture to be their most efficient tool in gaining power for themselves, are all too anxious to betray America into the hands of these scoundrels.

As a tenth-generation New Englander, whose family still managed to find about 65 of its members in the Confederate army (out of about 294 total in both armies) , I would name these "citizens" of Delaware to be traitors to our country. That's how thoroughly disgusted and angry I am that they have so far, and apparently will for the foreseeable future, get away with this abuse.

Let It Be Known.... Jul 8th. at 1:34:17 pm EDT

that any false Christian who harasses or attacks myself or my family in the name of their 'faith' will meet their maker sooner than they expect.
The time for running and hiding is over and it's time to face these people down and expose them for what they are.... ignorant bigots.
At least the group in the article seem like they have a grip on the real concept of what it means to be Christian.
I have no patience or tolerance for anybody who tries to force their beliefs on others and threatens or harrasses anyone who refuses to bow down before them in blind faith.
It's time for THEM to do the running and hiding.

I won't judge what all Christians believe, but this group seem to be tolerant. They seem to be trying. No, I don't support their faith, but to stand against these awful actions is a good thing. Support in any sense is a good thing.
I would have done what John and Jane Doe did, though, and it's shameful to admit. I would want to keep my family and children safe as much as I could. Who wants their child to become Tempest Smith, another statistic mostly forgotten? It may have been better for these families to stand their ground, but standing your ground as you receive death threats is utter lunacy.
Prayers for these two families. Prayers, also, for the persecutors, since they're obviously so off the moral and psychological deep end that those souls will be reincarnating for another three thousand years or something.
