Christian Group's Billboards Denounce Separation Of Church, State

Title: CHRISTIAN GROUP'S BILLBOARDS DENOUNCE SEPARATION OF CHURCH, STATE

A Hillsborough public policy group whose Christian platform included a push for a state ban on gay marriage has embraced a new attack on an old target: the separation of church and state.

Ten billboard advertisements against what activist Terry Kemple called the separation "lie" are being put up across Pinellas and Hillsborough counties. Seven or eight of the billboard messages already are in place, and the rest will be by the end of this week, Kemple said.

The message, as explained on www.noseparation.org, is that "America's government was made only for people who are moral and religious."

These billboards remind me of a quotation attributed to the "Reverend" Sun Myung Moon: "Separation of church and state is what God hates most." Those turkeys behind those billboards should be known for the company they keep.

Moon also is supposed to have said, "Turn off your Satanic mind."

This is just another example of the Religious Wrong placing their own "spin" on the Constitution of The United States of America. They've been trying to persuade everyone that this particular "spin" is the correct one for at least the past 150 years.....

Another, less "celebrated" -- yet still very well known, mis-reading of the Constitution concerns the so-called "States' Rights" issue. The mental midgets of Constitutional Law claim that the individual States somehow have the "right" to enact Law which goes directly against the Constitution and Federal Law -- and they base this at least partly on the faulty (and extremely biased) interpretation of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment in 1883, by the U.S. Supreme Court, wherein the 1875 Civil Rights Act was nullified (the Act outlawed discrimination against Negroes who would "dare" to use Public facilities...) .

Here's what Section 1 of the 14th Amendment says: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

ALL persons born or naturalized in the U.S. are U.S. citizens - not just of the State they happen to call "home"; NO State may make or enforce any law which abridges the privileges or immunities of U.S. citizens. Yet the "States' Rights" crowd claim that individual States have the "right" to pass laws restricting what citizens of the United States may do, say, see, hear, or think within the State's boundaries -- no matter what Federal Law says. (the main part of the basis for this claim is found in the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution - especially the 10th, wherein they speak of "powers not delegated nor prohibited". Yeah, it's like saying all alcohol is "sinful" because of one mention against "strong drink" is made in the Christian Bible...)

Just to remind everyone... The people who claim that "The U.S. was founded strictly as a Christian Nation" are also largely those who claim that individual States really are allowed, by Constitutional Law, to make and enforce laws which abridge the privileges and immunities of the citizens of the United States. They are the "Religious Right", only one part of collective "Right-Wing" problem (be aware: I am not a "Left-Wing Liberal"; my idea of "gun control" is hitting what you aim for - but I also believe that every woman has the right to decide whether to get an abortion, or not) .

They believe in Freedom and Equality by means of Democracy -- but only for those whom THEY decide are "moral enough".

The billboard which reads "America's government was made only for people who are moral and religious" is actually placed right down the road from my home. I cannot get onto the interstate without seeing it, and each time I do I have the stinging sensation that if these people had their way they would gladly burn me and my family to death. It's a horrible thing that they have to see that sign each time we go by, knowing that they are not what would be considered "moral and religious" even though we are very upright people. These billboards hurt our community, not help it. I would give anything to be able to put up some equality promoting billboards around tampa bay.

.....how can you quote somebody on something that you just made up? Wow. Absolutely mindblowing that they somehow get away with self-admitted lies. Well, personally I think that Christ at one point said, "OK, WTF??? Who are these jackasses claiming to do this wackadoo BS in MY name??? Grrrrrrrr!!!!!" But at least compared to everything that is actually in the bible, that's what I think he'd say. And THAT'S how this guy came up with his "quote" from Washington. Yet again, trying to candy-coat the fact that the founding fathers were Diests. They weren't extremists. They were intellectuals. And if you understand what a Diest is, it's about as oposite from an xtian extremist as the is the North & South pole. Even, literature-wise, you don't just MAKE up a quote. Not only is it poor form, anyone that knows their stuff will correct him on this, and their standpoint won't even be a religious one. So we come to the conclusion that he can't even seem to find a decent quote by our founding fathers to support his flavor of extremism. Staggers the imagination.

If anyone else but xians in this country said they had an invisible imaginary friend that they were afraid of, who told them to force others to believe in him, by force if necessary, and to harm others who disagreed, we'd lock them up as schizophrenic.

Personally, I wonder why the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR) has never listed Christianity as a mental disease or defect. ( I wonder if that would fly in court? The twinkie defense did.)

But then I also wonder why all of our elected leaders keep having to talk about their "Faith" in order to get elected.

Franklin, Jefferson, Washington (especially Washington) , Adams, etc would have slapped these people silly.
