Students Hold Peace Protest

Author: Kristen Coulter Source: Red and Black (Univ. of Georgia)

Title: STUDENTS HOLD PEACE PROTEST
To promote international peace, more than 150 protesters disrupted the calm on campus.
Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.'s March for Peace and Social Justice, demonstrators gathered in the Tate Plaza Friday morning holding signs and speaking to passersby in opposition to the war in Iraq.
Raymond Wiley, a senior from Canton, is the co-president of the Pagan Students Association and one of the organizers of the event.

Kate (Athens, Georgia) - Email Me

Protesting the Women in Black? Really. This guy needs to get a life and a set of principles.
For those of you not familiar with this group, they dress in black and stand silently at the Arch in Athens, GA (and other cities) to protest war. It's not an organized group - anyone can join them - all are welcome.
To protest their right to state their hopes and dreams is really hitting below the belt. If he's smart, he'll find another avenue for his stand. Any problems and he'll be in trouble he can't handle. These are gentle women, causing no one any problem. They are protesting WAR, not the current war.
