Witches Wait For Harry Potter

Author: Colette P. Fox   Source: KGMB9 (HI)

Title: WITCHES WAIT FOR HARRY POTTER

For most of us Harry Potter is just a magical diversion, but there are people right here in Hawaii who practice witchcraft as a way of life.

Harry Potter and his wizarding cohorts are conjuring up customers at Prosperity Corner in Kaimuki. More than half the inventory is devoted to the tools of witchcraft and there's the latest Potter paraphernalia, like the Hogwart's sorting hat.

The shop's proprietors - [D.J.] Colbert and her sister Niki Taittinger - don't usually come to work in pointy hats, but the sisters are more than happy to answer questions about what it's like to be third-generation witches of the Wiccan faith.

This was good, non-judgmental, balanced article. None of the buzz-words normally used by journalists to give the old 'wink-wink' to the reader about "those crazy witches who THINK they are really casting spells." Very well presented.

I wish this young lady would get into the national broadcasting scene - we could use a few more like her.

Enjoy your day - Stone.

They Aren't Real, But They Are Fun. Jul 15th. at 2:02:20 pm EDT

no, harry potter isn't real, nor are the characters to many other great fantasy fiction books, but because they mirror so much which goes on in reality, they are characters that live, breathe and attain a life of their own as they deal with and resolve situations in a way we sometimes wish we could.

Excuse Me, Jul 15th. at 11:04:31 am EDT

but did anyone else notice this comment: "there's just enough reality in there to make them wonderful" What is real in the Harry Potter books? The Magick? The witches? Hogwarts?

And this is coming from one of our own!?! We laugh when some Christian fundy says Harry Potter is real, how come we are letting one of our own get away with it?

Does this not excite anyone else? I am so happy to see Pagan Family have Pagan kids who in turn have more Pagan kids!

Gives me hope

Can It Be? Jul 15th. at 9:39:27 am EDT

Could it be? I don't see a single 'self-proclaimed' in there... and we're not portrayed as evil people! JOY!

I can't believe it, maybe I forgot to read a paragraph, or just didn't read it as thoroughly as I'd have liked.

Either way, it seemed like a pretty good article to me.
