Girls Had Many Questions About Witchcraft, Pastor Says

Author: Dolly Butz and Travis Coleman   Source: Sioux City Journal (IA)

Title: GIRLS HAD MANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WITCHCRAFT, PASTOR SAYS

Two young sisters who were murdered during a ritual slaying Sunday knew more about witchcraft then they should have for their age, a local pastor said.

Pastor Cary Gordon of Cornerstone World Outreach said Kendra Suing, 10, and Alysha Suing, 8, bombarded a bus driver for the church with questions after a summer lesson about the sinfulness of practicing witchcraft.

After the lesson on witchcraft, Gordon said the Suing girls didn't attend another session of the program until the last one of the year in November.

"They had a real earful on why witchcraft is wrong that day, and then they got back home and then they went missing for a long time after that," he said. "We wondered if the kids didn't go home and say, 'Dad, the church says what you're doing is wrong,' and dad says, 'Well, you're not going back.' That's our speculation."

But this article is very poorly written. I counted at least two instances of bad grammar- and it makes me wonder what sort of morons are being given jobs where a decent command of the English language are considered imperative?

That being said- there are bad pagans out there. I've had the misfortune to have been in contact with some of those who would use religion as a shield against behaving badly. Sadly it happens in every branch of every faith, and the pagan community must conduct itself with dignity and restraint when faced with accusations of depravity from the mainstream- or in this case, a trickling stream.

Brightest Blessings,
A.R.

I would comment, but I have to get my nausea under control.

on witchcraft at the bible school is not why the kids stopped attending. They were having problems with another student.

I do wish religion bashing was not a part of discussions about these killings. We all know that he was not doing a spell for "death & destruction" to correct his son's behavior that somehow "went wrong" and killed the 2 girls who just happened to be home by strangling and stabbing. Does not happen. Not even a logical story - why would anyone think "death & destruction" would fix behavior except to end the person's behavior entirely - I suppose killing the 2 girls woud sharpen up the obedience of the boy somewhat - terror makes you obedient I guess, but it is not the usual way to train your kids.

This is a story about a man who murdered 2 kids. Witchcraft, as usual, is not how he did it and probably not why. It is still the attention grabbing word in the headline that sells the papers.

Slightly Different From The Previous Article Jan 9th. at 12:59:39 pm EST

Young Coyote (W. Hempstead, California) - Email Me

This article is posted twice on this site (the other one is the first article of today) , yet this one is a little bit different. It explains more about the Jesus Camp-esque retreat the girls attended.

What annoys me is that the priest is implying that the "evil, witch stepfather" was the one that decided to keep the kids out. It is equally possible that the kids themselves chose not to go. Going by this article they appeared to be a little distressed about the witchcraft "lesson". (*snort*)

Either way, you know what? It doesn't matter. Those children have met a tragic end because of the mental instability of their stepfather. Trying to figure out what early "warning" signs, if any, there were is a moot point now.

Info Protocol Jan 9th. at 12:33:19 pm EST

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

Hey, Fritz, there are too many articals relevant, to this incident. It may be time to look at expanding presentation protocols.

I notice Yarrow Circle has a policy of accepting "Experienced Magicians," Only if they exhibit the rare quality of Humility. If that refers to our currently malodorous, then they're in the same guilt trip as the pastor, who used WitchCraft in an excersize of passing judgement, according to his own superstitions, without realizing that it might apply to the innocent. They might just invite him to a lunch of commiseration.

That this pastor preaches a fear of those who do that which seems right to themselves, in favor of following as seems right to the pastor, smells like the pastor has done that which does not seem right to himself, but it takes one to know one, and Ministry is supposed to be a learning experience.

How do we bring those who are self important, in their magical learning, to that ultimate of humbling experiences? The Preacher and the Malodor are just local examples, but the gift of a goat's head has yet to save the Brahmana.

There's a certain air of Denial, in Sioux City, and what happened in that magician's house is tempting to deny responsibility for, but it's really all my fault, as much as that murder of Orthodox Christians in Iraq.

Leave it to a self-professed priest of the angry Middle Eastern war "god" to denounce a peaceful religion.

I knew a negative article had to be coming. Being from the area, I was surprised to see positive, set-the-record-straight articles from the beginning. Just go two counties farther north and you're in the heart of conservative, fundie Iowa.
