Judge To Review Satanic Bible In Child Slaying Case

Author: Associated Press   Source: KTIV (IA)

Title: JUDGE TO REVIEW SATANIC BIBLE IN CHILD SLAYING CASE

A judge will review a satanic bible and an affidavit from a satanic high priest as he determines whether prosecutors can refer to satanism in the trial of a Sioux City man accused of killing his two stepdaughters.

Lawrence Harris Sr. is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the January slayings of his 8- and 10-year-old stepdaughters.

Prosecutors say he was practicing satanism and that the killings were part of a ritual from a satanic bible.

Prosecutors, Not The Accused, Making The Claim Aug 21st. at 11:29:54 pm EDT

Stormsinger (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) - Email Me

The prosecutors are trying to stir up the shock "value" of "Satanic Ritual (tm) " -- the public defender seems to be holding that neither he nor his client are saying anything of the sort.

What are they thinking? The deaths of two children aren't enough? Or do they not have a case without "Satanic Panic?" Unless they've got an uncoerced confession from the accused, that's all he is -- The Accused -- and innocent until proven guilty. The prosecutors could fumble the ball, there could be evidence we don't know about -- or there might not be any more case against this guy than against the West Memphis Three, without (classic, anti-Christian) Satanism in the mix. Or it could be an open-and-shut case that some glory-hound is trying to build into a career-maker.

Just MY Opinion, But. . . Aug 21st. at 7:10:36 pm EDT

paganSubmissive (Merced, California) - Email Me

he most likely got the idea from his attourney. I remember reading (and being FORCED to read) books by Christian authors about all manner of different "Satanic" things. Like how the Smurfs was all about Satanism, and Gargamel was really the name of a high ranking demon, and Azreal the cat was his Minion of evil, and that the magic that Poppa Smurf did was all satanic rites as well.

All I am saying is this : If all you have is a hammer, everything begins to look like nails. If all you are looking for is the "evil" in something, that is what you will see. "Oh look! That singing bird in that cartoon? It represents the dark Deamon Azzazzle, and the word it says? Peep? That is actually ans acronym for People Enjoying Evil Practices."

Take from this what you will. It merely seems like another case of "Hammer-itis" and not wanting to admit that he is a real sick SOB.

BB!

Actually.... Aug 21st. at 5:32:22 pm EDT

most of these Sickos are not true satanists, but are enamored of the concept of evil as depicted by, books by Xtian Inquisition writers of the day that wrote all that garbage about what they perceived Satan and witchcraft to be, based on the scurrilous information taken from the victims of their torturous questionings.

Unlike The Christian Bible.. Aug 21st. at 4:59:06 pm EDT

Jenna (Cary, North Carolina) - Email Me

The Satanic one actually has a law against harming children as well as animal sacrifice. These are light years above the "perfection" of the Ten Commandments (really, wouldn't every society be better off if they were told to take care of their children rather than to not covet their neighbour's goods. As many have pointed out, that is the entire basis for the capitalist system: covetting) . I know that prosecutors have a tough job, but some of them are absolute twits who deserve to be little more than file clerks. This person sounds like one of them. Also, I don't remember people being ready to condemn and denounce the Christian Bible when Andrea Yates murdered her five children due, in part, to what her pastor taught her about "sinful" children. In her very delusional mind, she was a good mother trying to save them from hell. It's not amazing that she did that; it's amazing that it doesn't happen more often. We hold Abraham up as a true believer and for being faithful to God. If he were around today and had done the same thing, he would be locked away in either a prison or asylum (depending on if "God" decided to send that last minute reprieve) . It's time for the Christians to read the real word of the devil: their own so called holy text.

Perhaps They Should Review Their Own Bible Aug 21st. at 3:49:28 pm EDT

Psalm 137, verse 9:

"Happy shall be he who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rocks."

a really clear example of the "superior" Christian "morality" hey?

Can't We Just Call A Psycho -a Psycho? Aug 21st. at 2:14:03 pm EDT

Lisa / POSTMORTEMSTAR (Tampa, Florida) - Email Me

Yeah great the Judge is going to read the "Satanic Bible" doesn't that almost sound like a waste of time? This creep killed two children. Does it really matter what made him do it? or the fact that he did?

Psycho's have all sorts of reason why they do things, the cat told them too, ect, ect.. The fact is he got it into his head to commit the most horrible act of murder against children.

The only book the judge should be concerned with is the one they plan throwing at him.

As One Who Read It.... Aug 21st. at 1:59:03 pm EDT

The book advocates no violence to animals or children. It only advocates not turning the other cheek when one is assaulted, either physically or verbally, but it does not advocate any assault to anyone for any reason save for one's own defense. It does have some objectionable material, but nothing of that nature.
I hope the judge reads it without prejudice.

Poisoning The Well Aug 21st. at 12:40:21 pm EDT

Dana Corby (Anderson Island, Washington) - Email Me

It's good that the judge will see for himself whether the so-called 'satanic bible' that the prosecution cites really does advocate child sacrifice. The actual "Satanic Bible." by Anton LaVey, is pretty vile by my standards, but nowhere does it advocate the sacrifice of children.

There are, however, many books on Satanism by _Christian_ authors which maintain strongly that it is required, even going so far as to recount spurious 'real satanic rituals' in which children were supposedly murdered.

The Christian fascination with Satan and Satanism poisons the well of spiritual thought. Sociopaths are given a pre-fab structure for their deepest urges; psychopaths are given fully-developed imagery and instructions for their sickest fantasies. And it gives both a very convenient external causal factor -- as in "The Devil made me do it" -- on which to blametheir own evil.

Satanic Bible Aug 21st. at 12:39:26 pm EDT

Lady-hearted Mojo (Irving, Texas) - Email Me

The only Satanic Bible I'm aware of is the one composed by Anton LaVey and nowhere in it is there a ritual that includes child murder or human sacrifice of any kind. This guy isn't a Satanist, Neo-Pagan, or a witch..he's just a homocidal psycho using religion to justifiy this horrible act.

Just As One Shouldn't Assume He's A Satanist Aug 21st. at 11:48:24 am EDT

Serpent (Caldwell (close to Nampa) , Idaho) - Email Me

... one shouldn't assume he's a Witch or Pagan either. I know of no actual practicing Witch/Wiccan, Pagan, or C.O.S. teaching that would call for the murder of children. The man shouldn't be able to claim any of these traditions, and neither should the prosecution for this trial. Just as the Satanic High Priest has done, I hope that members of the Wiccan/Pagan community come forward and denounce the atrocities this man committed. Selena Fox... anyone? :)

Blessings.
