Goddesses Reign For A Day At Festival In Julia Davis Park

Author: Katherine Jones

Title: GODDESSES REIGN FOR A DAY AT FESTIVAL IN JULIA DAVIS PARK
Lori Cloutier emerged from the Goddess Pavilion tent Saturday just in time to see her clothing booth's first sale of the day.
The Boise woman spent a week making capes, cloaks and hand-painted T-shirts for the Goddess Festival held Saturday at Julia Davis Park.
The tent was one of many attractions that offered visitors a way to ease troubles, cast out physical aches and pains and learn more about their futures. There were massage therapists and Tarot card readers. Sometimes they were one in the same. People read auras and palms, too. One booth offered information about midwives.
Jim Swetland of Middleton proudly wore a green sarong. Swetland is a member of the Golden Thread Grove Church, one of the festival's sponsors, and said he likes the event because it attracts a variety of people.
The Golden Thread Grove Church attracts people from a variety of religious backgrounds, but is primarily a Wiccan church, he said.

May I add, it was a wonderful day. Not too hot, with just the right amount of breeze (for me) . Wonderful performers, wonderful vendors, and oh! That falafel from the Egyptian restaurant! Mmmm.
Old friends met again, new friends made. Well and truly, a good day was had by all. The only negative I heard was the vendor who had a chainmail covered hairclip stolen from his table. For shame, for shame.
