JJC Community Saves Barb's Hair By Giving Up Its Own For Good Cause

Author: Heidi Terry-Litchfield Source: Morris Daily Herald (IL)

Title: JJC COMMUNITY SAVES BARB'S HAIR BY GIVING UP ITS OWN FOR GOOD CAUSE
When Barb Messel of Morris told friends she was going to shave her hair to help raise money for the Joliet Junior College Relay for Life team, the JJC Thunderbirds, they took action to raise more money to stop her.
Laurie Bierman from the Office of Student Activities heard of Messel's plans to not only donate lengths of her hair to Locks of Love, but to also shave her head completely bald for the cause, and set out to stop her.
Students from the Native American Club and the Pagan Wiccan Club joined together to create the JJC Thunderbirds team for the All-College Relay for Life being held this weekend at Lewis University in Romeoville.
In a final push to raise funds for the walk, they created an event - “Clips for a Cure” - on the JJC bridge Thursday afternoon.

Amber (Spencer, Iowa) - Email Me

But it's not all that uncommon. In my hometown, the owner of the bar was selling those little paper signs for $1 each to raise money for a charity. (JDRF, I think.) He set two goals and reached both of them. At the first one, he shaved his head. For the second, he ran down mainstreet in his boxers. And I would like to point out it was February!

If that's not a creative way to raise money for charity, I don't know what is!
