We Cannot Bring Back Words That Are Misspoken

Author: Carrol Vertrees Source: Gary Post Tribune (IN)

Title: WE CANNOT BRING BACK WORDS THAT ARE MISSPOKEN
Newspaper lore tells of a small-town editor who wrote that "Half the council members are crooks." Wanting to be fair, the next week he wrote: "Half the council members are not crooks."
Not exactly an apology, but it is as good as some of the stuff we are hearing today. We are hip-deep in hypocrisy, as celebrity folks, including politicians, apologize, saying they are sorry for the words they used.
The meaning of apologizing is being distorted, weakened.
It is easy to judge prominent people, but in our own little worlds we can hurt others by the words we use. Some of us do not know when to be silent or how to forgive. When we say we're sorry for speaking hurtful words, what do we mean? We cannot bring back the words -- that is like trying to put toothpaste back into the tube.

Many Ancient Religions would agree w/ this Columnist and so do I (to a certain degree) ...
Words are Magic and in my Religious Practice--I recognize that the power of thoughts, words, and deeds--is equally as powerful...
That being said--we seem to be living in some kind of alternate universe where it has become politically incorrect to speak the truth...
Keeping in mind that the truth can be relative--I think there is something to be said for those who are unafraid to stand-up, speak their truth, and accept whatever may come of it...
Peace and Love on the path of Your Choice...
Blessed be
