Pagan Festival Held In Pittsburg

Author: Brian Pommier   Source: The Morning Sun (KS)

Title: PAGAN FESTIVAL HELD IN PITTSBURG

It is often said that people who hold Pagan beliefs subscribe to a non-prophet religion.

That little joke is how Skip Tarrant explained what Pagans are and what they believe during a Pagan Pride Day Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park.

"Pagan Pride Day is kind of a community outreach thing," Tarrant said. "The purpose is to give people who are curious about who Pagans are and what they do a chance to come out and meet us and get first-hand information. It's always easier to take a person's measure when you can look them in the eye?"

PittsburgH, PA is the greatest city on earth to live. Pagans are pretty much accepted here. We have magickal shops who thrive without fear of retaliation, we can hold open circles in public without fear of harm, and we work side by side with those of other faiths without worry over losing our jobs.

Does it really matter whether one is Pagan, Wytch, or Wiccan? The point is--educating the people of our Ways. Mainstream people need to know the basics before they will ever be able to differentiate the difference between Pagan, wytch, and Wicaan.

A good enough article, but I wish the person being interviewed had specified that they were Wiccan, aside from mentioning the reed - which does not apply to all pagans, or all non-Wiccan witches.

But, good stuff nontheless!

A nice, short little interview that doesn't get very deep, but doesn't carry anything negative, either. Hopefully it will change some people's minds.

And just a small note: this is a Kansas-based paper and event, not Pennsylvania. The PA city is spelled with an H on the end. ( (Sorry for the nitpicking, Wren - keep up the fantastic work!) )
