Adam, Eve And A Fig Leaf To Cover Science

Author: Reg Henry, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette   Source: Press of Atlantic City

Title: ADAM, EVE AND A FIG LEAF TO COVER SCIENCE

The pursuit of happiness takes many forms and the American people are starved for entertainment. Those two truths taken in combination may explain the Creation Museum, which has just opened in Petersburg, Ky., not far from Cincinnati.

Lacking such an explanation, sensible people might dismiss such an oddity as just another of the devil's works to lure Christians into making themselves look ridiculous for the amusement of atheists, who are desperate for any sort of fun because they can't enjoy Christmas.

To the embarrassment of thoughtful believers, the Creation Museum has been built for people who were born yesterday, or more or less yesterday, because they don't believe in the great geologic periods that spoilsport science insists upon.

It's enough to make one bemoan the lack of an 11th commandment on the list given to Moses: Thou Shalt Not Be Stupid.

Hahahahahahahaha....Right....

I would find this funny if the place wasn't 30 minutes south of me, instead, I am rather embrassed by the fact that some of my neighbors to the south could be so blinded by falsehoods.

That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It... Jun 1st. at 5:14:52 am EDT

Cloudspeaker (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan) - Email Me

What izzat?! LOL - it will never cease to amaize me how ppl take the cliche "the victor writes history" waaay overboard.

The bible has been proven to be an interesting re-write and slanted interpretation of history - especially w/all the mistranslation and personal/cultural bias tossed in by the various editions of it. This we can see as obvious modification and tweaking of thier own SACRED text!

If they want to re-edit and corrupt thier own text - feel free - go nutty even...

Our shared history and sumation of human investigation and knowledge is NOT something to be deleted or edited simply because it conflicts with some literalistic interpretation of a highly mistranslated text...

Jesus save me... From your followers...

Interesting Thought.. Jun 1st. at 12:52:36 am EDT

Ravenowl (Amboy, Oklahoma) - Email Me

all animals were herbavours right o.0.. doesnt that mean all animals would have eaten from that tree... its food after all.. so wouldnt that mean that there shouldnt be herbavours now? unless they missed all those apples.. and whats with the apple anyhow... as its traditionally a symbol of the Craft?

So by eating the apple they were saying they turned to the Craft ? Sooo it would be in our nature to be in the Craft as our very first ancestors were of it?

Maybe them eating the apple was a symbol of them turning away from the Craft and thus away from what they were supposed to be

When they ate the apple.. didnt they become like God? Wouldnt that be a good thing? As he supposedly made them in his image..

And if I had to redo everything (If i was that God) id be soo pissed off at my self because I made a duh mistake in putting the damn tree there in the first place

id be all " Darn that .. >.< im so going to make them a stupid tree.. and let them eat of that one >.< Screw redoing everything"

Wouldnt that make more sense

oh and hte dinos... ya that would have been one HELL of a boat.. and was there some like Super Strong stuff to keep them from eating each other

oh and how did they survive.. I know id die if I didnt eat for 40 days.. T rex would be a very happy camper lol.. tho nothing would be left.. and it would have died.. and what would be the point in saving all those animals if they just ate each other.. Did he bring some spares along to make sure a couple of them survived.. wouldnt that make the boat bigger? If everything that exists now and back in those times were on the boat.. how in he bloody hell did he get them all on hte boat.. I mean look at the cats... I know my kitty is a free spirit and getting it to do anything other then what he wants to do is next to impossible...

so if he had all the animals.. two of each remember... and food.. or "spares" wouldnt that be like the size of the world?

What Did We Look Like Before That Apple? May 31st. at 10:52:14 pm EDT

Shadowbear (Hillsboro, Oregon) - Email Me

We - humans that is - have the digestive system and teeth to eat meat as well as fruit and vegetables. Before that nasty episode with the apple, did we have the digestive system and teeth of herbivores? Did adam and eve look alike? If there was no gestational reproduction there would have been adamandeve - exactly the same (the story says they were clones after all - cloned from that rib) ? This story of creation that says we were all vegetarians with no gestational reproduction means that it all had to be done over - adding reproductive organs and changing the teeth and digestive systems of all the carnivores.

This sounds like a very inefficient way of doing things - god must have been very irritated at having to do the whole thing over - wonder why he made himself so much extra work. Personally I don't think the story holds water. Much prefer my good ol'pagan ways with evolution and all - much more efficient and logical. The idea of having a stupid creator is more than I can bear, stupid people are bad enough.

A Distinction That Needs To Be Made... May 31st. at 10:07:05 pm EDT

Mariah Windrider (Grand Terrace, California) - Email Me

I met a young man not long ago who told me that since he was a Christian, he felt he could not believe in evolution. I thought that odd at the time. I couldn't figure out what one had to do with the other. Now this.

Perhaps it is time to make a hard and fast distinction between members of the Bible Cult and Christians (followers of Jesus) . Any look at history will tell you that Christians existed long before the Bible (at least the New Testament) . Bible Cultists build Creationism Museums, Christians feed the poor. Simple. One is looking for power over others, the other to empower others.

If I ever run into that young man again, I'll let him know that "it ain't necessarily so...."

The Funny Part... May 31st. at 6:32:17 pm EDT

bigcat (peoria, Illinois) - Email Me

The gods gave us brains- but its the Fundies job, obviously, to keep them empty. The creation of this xtian disneyland is for that very reason. Enjoy- but don't take it literally. If we must laugh at something stupid- it is the thought behind this rather odd display that is something truly ridiculous- and worth the derision.

Evolution? May 31st. at 6:31:37 pm EDT

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

"Outside, dozens of demonstrators gathered to protest the attack on science and a plane flew over with a sign that said: "Thou Shalt Not Lie." But why bother? There is no changing the un-evolved mind."

The evolved mind might have such regard for Science, as to examine what's being discussed. The Commandment prohibits the Bearing of False Witness, as in the day to day affairs of Fundy Preachers.

And Any Scientist could tell you, the Brontosaurus wouldn't eat an Apple Tree, as the entire Rosaceae Family is toxic, save for the parts you're supposed to eat.

And it was That Succullence, The Knowledge of Which is Good and Evil, which resulted in Women bearing her children in Grief, due to Gestation when she should still have been Virgin.

Someday, I'm going to have to get back in touch with Moses/Joseph the Aramathean, as I think the original statement was, "Thou shalt place no other Gods before the Ultimate Self."

how Jesus really fed five thousand people: a brontosauraus goes a looonnng way. Does this also mean that the Romans threw xians to the velociraptors?
