Creation Museum Logs 100,000 Visitors In 8 Weeks

Author: AP   Source: Fox News

Title: CREATION MUSEUM LOGS 100,000 VISITORS IN 8 WEEKS

The controversy surrounding the opening of a northern Kentucky museum that teaches the biblical story of creation hasn't hurt it at the box office.

The Creation Museum hosted its 100,000th visitor over the weekend, less than two months after it opened, putting the museum on pace to easily exceed the 250,000 visitors organizers were hoping to get in the first year.

The museum's first weeks have been highlighted by packed parking lots and long lines to get in. The wait has hardly slowed down the stream of people who have flocked to the 60,000-square foot facility that includes some exhibits that have raised eyebrows among skeptics.

Evolution is derided at the museum, which is packed with high-tech exhibits designed by an acclaimed theme-park artist, animatronic dinosaurs and a huge wooden ark.

"Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe its true, or because they are afraid it might be true." Terry Goodkind, "Wizard's First Rule"

The crackheads are still clinging to hope that their bizarro-world mythology is still accurate, despite the information in it disproven (or is the Earth flat, like it says in both Isaiah 40:22 and Matthew 4:8?) where it isn't plagiarism (since, you know, Osiris was really the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in the Middle Eastern regions) .

Enough is enough when it comes to freely advertising stupid s**t. Ignoring this part of the problem would make said problem component go away.

mud slinging does nothing to open lines of communication. If we can not respect each other how will we ever live in peace together?

Come To NY... Jul 24th. at 11:12:58 am EDT

genexs (Newburgh, New York) - Email Me - Web

I wish some of the 100K would come to New York: I have a nice bridge I'd like to sell them.

This is just another example of Xtians breaking one of their cardinal rules: not to bare false witness.

Why Do We Care? Jul 24th. at 9:19:54 am EDT

Finn (San Marcos, Texas) - Email Me

I have to ask myself why do we care whether they believe in evolution or not? It just means less competition for me and mine as far as I'm concerned. If they are happy with their beliefs, then let them be happy. What does concern me is the odd glee so many of my peers take in attacking them for their "silly" beliefs. Do our creation myths stand up any better? I really have a hard time tell us from them when one of these articles comes up and the inevitable "pile on" starts.

So they built a museum? So what? Don't go. I know I have little interest in it. In fact, I don't have any interest in what Christians believe, do, or what they think of us. The larger question is why do you care? Christian Fundamentalists (of various stripes) sound amazingly like many people here in their beliefs that we are silly, deceptive, and dragging the country (and the world) down. The most extreme among them see us as part of an evil empire, a group dedicated to their destruction. I see those same attitudes here.

And yet, the world keeps right on turning. I still can practice whatever I want, say pretty much whatever I want, and do what I want. Most people I meet are Christians and they have about as much interest in me as I have in them. Polls show most of them do believe in "creation" and yet science moves on. Apparently, lots of Christians are capable of scientific advancement and work, reconciling their beliefs and their jobs. Go figure. It sounds like most Christians are just like most Pagans... SANE. If only the hatemongers of our group and the hatemongers of their group could get together and kill each other. The world would be a better place.

Yes, and a good dose of morbid curiosity as well :)

This silly museum has a virtual tour - what a hoot! Much cheaper (free!) than paying $25 to wander thru & make fun....

Fundies Don't Believe In Evolution Because THEY Jul 24th. at 8:05:56 am EDT

Zianna Elanesse (Lusby, Maryland) - Email Me

The fundies haven't and will never evolve. I do feel bad for their children as everyone else learns real science, tolerance and other 'secular' knowledge and they are learning this crap and indoctrinated in hate and the literal word of god as the basis of all things.
The scary thing for me is that they are teaching their kids about politics and setting them up to rule the country in the years to come. I read "Kingdom coming" and it scared the crap out of me because I see that this is happening every day.

Blessed Be

Has more holes in it than a fishing net, (I'm a fan of Lamarkian Evolution myself) , But, like the net, the connections making it up supported by molecular biology etc, do link together nicely. What worries me more is actions like the one mentioned in an article from the same website. What was this idiot trying to do? Trash the planet more to bring on what he'd been told by the chaplaincy in Basic Training would happen if the world became uninhabitable?!!

Should've Built Bedrock Instead... Jul 24th. at 2:25:22 am EDT

bigcat (peoria, Illinois) - Email Me

That would've been a tad more appropo. Fred Flinstone's home town would have fit right in.
So how are they touting this- the disneyland of xtianity? Bet most that went through those gates went for curiosity and not true belief.
Are they planning on theme rides? That's gotta be next. This little venture has been done before, and it finally shut down due to lack of interest. Eventually, this will too.
I hear that a Harry Potter theme park is in the works. Bet that'll be a riot.

How Is It... Jul 23rd. at 11:52:54 pm EDT

nasionnaich (Stanchfield, Minnesota) - Email Me

That anyone with even one tiny little amount of intelligence can believe something with absolutely no concrete, Scientific evidence -- and in the same breath claim that to believe something else without concrete, Scientific evidence is lunacy? How can anyone at all believe in a God, yet not Evolution? It does boggle the mind at times.....

Oh, and those 100,000 visitors to the "museum"? probably just the same bunch of freaks going again and again and again and again and again.............With maybe a few hundred or so truly intelligent people going just for a good belly-laugh.

100,000 People... Jul 23rd. at 11:40:19 pm EDT

Mirian (Urbana, Illinois) - Email Me

most of whom probably showed up for the sole purpose of a good laugh. If I'd lived anywhere near there, I probably would have done the same thing.

Truth is not a popularity contest. It cannot be altered by a refusal to believe in it. If everyone on Earth visited this museum, it would not make the creators of the museum right. Eventually these people will figure that out. Or maybe just die out. One or the other, anyway....

If I'd thought of it, I'd be a millionaire now. Too bad - I even resigned my membership in the flat earth society.
