Witchcraft Warning

Author: Darla Montgomery Source: KLFY-TV 10 (LA)

Title: WITCHCRAFT WARNING
To escape a life of alcoholism and abuse one woman turned to the black arts, more commonly known as black magic or satanic witchcraft, seeking revenge on her abusers.
It was the world that robbed Donner Roberson of any possibility of happiness. Her lifelong nightmare began when her own mother did the unthinkable.
She told TV 10 that as a 4 year old girl she was molested and sold by her mom for $200.
As if her world wasn't grim enough, she slipped further into darkness. She became a master of black art; she practiced witchcraft and worshiped Satan.
"I actually would sit there and worship until my room filled with black mist....it works," Donner says.

What the heck is wrong with this lady? Why the heck would she even fill her room with a dark mist? Was the light coming in through her window too bright? Was she hiding from someone? Or, did she just do it because she thought it was really neat?
Personally, I think this lady is a few cards short of a full tarot deck.

which one of them has lost more marbles; Donner Roberson, the "journalist" that wrote this, the newspaper for publishing this drivel, Warnke, Wohlberg or good old Pat.
That whole bit of drivel is pure bull.

with these little "Life was so cruel and I wanted power so I became a Satanist until I found the truth of our Lord" , I swear I'm going to scream (and I'm sure that if Satan actually existed, he would feel the same!) . They're soooo beyond nauseating and predictable at this point they would be absolutely laughable if the little "Jesus freaks" didn't hold them up to be the truth about Wicca and New Age (and let's face it: If Wicca weren't around, these stories would be about how these very troubles people found Satan in Buddhism or Judaism) beliefs. Call me cynical, but I seriously doubt all of that trauma actually happened to her. Many therapists have been shown to lead their patients during regression theraphy and in the court of law it cannot be considered as evidence in and of itself. I hope that woman receives help for her problems and trauma (real or imagined) and learns to take responsibility for her own life rather than placing the blame on others or a belief system.

Abuse > Depression > Alcoholism > Abuse
A vicious cycle that is hard to break.
This article may well be presented as fundamentalist retoric, however there will be many Witch and Wiccan reading here that also turned to, discovered, or had revealed to them, a Pagan path during a desperate time of need - to deny this would be falsification.
Ms Roberson turned to witchcraft because she thought it would help her regain control of her life (a case of personal gain?) and it failed. She received a vision and given that the Craft had been unable to bring the about change she wanted identified this vision as her previously indoctrinated belief ... a Christian image.
Does it matter what the religion or imagery, if a person manages to turn around a life for the better (?)
As for "worship until my room filled with black mist", well burning incense using too much charcoal does that for me too!

Oh my goodness. Just when you think it's safe to darken a church door...it gets even crazier.
And they say Pagans and Wiccans are out to lunch...HELLO!!!!
I read a Churchian book several years ago that told how a "Satanic Witch" was able to become all kinds of "were animals"...werecats, werewolves, even werebunnies!!!! And Gawd freed them. Mike Warnke has nothing on this nut.
I agree with one of the other commenter...what good is black mist filling one's room if "it don't hunt" the bastards that abused her? They're still free and happy go lucky...she's simply changed one delusion for another....stop the madness!!!

If the alledged abuse was real, then she has my compassion. But lacking any supporting evidence, she's just another attention seeking crackpot jumping on the Jesus band wagon like a Republican running for office. She'll take the fame and the money, but can't/won't deliver the goods.

Good morning, This story was brought to my attention and, after reading it, I felt I must ask this simple question ... why is this news? Why is this being reported by an AP award winner as a legitimate news story? And why does it deserve front page coverage on the KLFY website? This is nothing more than fear-mongering propaganda that panders to the lowest common denominator. This isn't journalism. It's yellow journalism; derisive, offensive and done with nothing other than the malicious purpose, however innocent the intent, of perpetuating, and inciting, the hatred that already exists towards practitioners of an already maligned and misunderstood faith. Based on your bio, it is apparent to me that your Christian faith influences many of your stories. I suggest, therefore, that you might find a more receptive audience working for CBN or some other Christian broadcasting station. I'm sure that your talent, and unique perspective on the world, might be more appreciated in those venues.
Sincerely, Rev. >>>>>

okay so why is it okay to put an atheist or a pagan in psych ward when they start spouting that they worshipped satan and that they were able to perform black arts on people, and yet when a fundie says they did and that they repented or what not and saw jesus save them they get put on a television show? Can we please stop discriminating against all the crazies and put them all where they need to be? In nice padded rooms.

No.
This is another Mike Warnke "I was a satanic high priest before jeebus saved me" copycat.
Apparently the line of ministry is very lucrative, since Donner Whatsherface is the 2nd of these sorts that I can remember reading about in the last few months.
Donner is FOS.

Shadowbear (Hillsboro, Oregon) - Email Me

She sure did not get anything out of "worshiping satan" for hours at a time except a room full of black mist. No reprisals against those who abused her, no release from her drugs and alcohol. Nothing but a black mist. I should think that if it "worked" it would do better than that. I could, even without satan involved - if I wanted to that is.
I am sorry for people who are abused as children, especially those who turn to drugs and alcohol to wipe out their past but this type of article does the woman no favors and simply uses the headline to gain attention for a very boring story that involves another addict who found jesus.
