Teacher Arrested, Accused Of Anti-Islam Tirade

Author: Washington Post Source: The Denver Channel

Title: TEACHER ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF ANTI-ISLAM TIRADE
A Maryland substitute teacher was arrested after an alleged anti-Islamic tirade in front of high school students.
Carol Joan McVey, 49, was charged with resisting arrest, trespassing, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
Police said McVey became upset when she heard some students at Gaithersburg High School, who were being assisted by another teacher, practicing a speech and using some Arabic words.

Can she be trusted to watch herself? I certainly hope she learns to control herself better. I wonder if she actually did lose someone she loved during the events.

she sounds just like my dad... and he was doing it WAY before 9/11.... this woman was probably like that pre-9/11 and with 9/11 it just gave her a reason to be louder.
Maybe if MORE people in this world tried to undertand other peoples languages (this is what it was about anyway) and culture maybe there wouldn't be a need for the Department of Homeland Security or the UN security council.

She yelled at the Spanish teacher for teaching foreign languages too?
That's past ethnocentric -- that's pathological.
What....is Spanish a "gateway language" now?

What the blazes for? We're talking about language here, not religion. Perhaps some people should re-read the article. The woman overreacted, and the school officials did the right thing. Yes, she probably reacted that way because of 911, but that doesn't make it right. Part of being a responsible adult, and good citizen is that we control our more violent urges.

One one hand, I look at the timeframe of the creation of Islam with the history of Christianity, and if you align the two of them, then Islam is at the same age Christianity was when they got the bright idea to go on Crusade. So, I would give them a couple hundred years to get it out of their system, and then they'll be a little bit more willing to deal with other cultures...of course, the coming Ice Age will also make it a lot more difficult here on Earth, so I doubt anyone will care, being too busy with survival in the face of massive food shortages.
One the other hand, why don't the mainstream imams and ayatollahs condemn the radicals? Do you see any of the mainstream protestant ministers standing up for the likes of those who advocate bombing abortion clinics? And you certainly don't see any rabbis espousing turning the rest of the Middle East into plate glass without immediately being shunned or rebuked by their peers. So why do the imams and ayatollahs remain silent?
Eran Rathan "Contemplate the workings of this world, listen to the words of the wise, and take all that is good as your own. With this as your base, open your own door to truth. Do not overlook the truth that is right before you. Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything - even mountains, rivers, plants and trees - should be your teacher." Moreihei Oeshiba, Founder of Aikido

I understand that there are many PEACEFUL Islamic people around.... you can't judge them all by the actions of a few, but with this being the 5th anniverasy of 9/11 and 9/11 itself, I can somewhat understand where she is coming from. there are many, myself included, that are at jsut about wit's end with the RADICAL muslums. It's the year 2006, for cryin' out loud - why don't they wake up, grow up and realize that not everybady wants to live like they do? I think it's about time that Islam took a long, hard look at itself and made some changes. I don't condone her actions, but I understand the attitude.....

Sadly, this is proof that racism and ethnocentrism are alive and well in the U.S. of A..

Wonder which fundie hate church she represents? Too bad she didn't get her donkey kicked. Should have at least maced her. Xian politics and disrespect is to blame for 9/11. America helped destabilize other governments and steal land to create Israel. No secret. Did anyone else know that Hitler was a Lutheran? Not good for headlines. The U.S. military killed Kennedy in retaliation for the "Bay of Pigs" fiasco when he abandoned our special forces to be killed. Two simultaneous and accurate shots. Only one shooter caught and killed before being interrogated. Yes, I'm rambling. I got more.
