'Bunky' Bartlett: A Down-To-Earth, Multimillionaire Wiccan

Author: Ben Nuckols, AP Source: Baltimore Examiner (MD)

Title: 'BUNKY' BARTLETT: A DOWN-TO-EARTH, MULTIMILLIONAIRE WICCAN
Elwood "Bunky" Bartlett drove a tricked-out new Ford Explorer to the Maryland Lottery's headquarters Tuesday to claim his share of a $330 million Mega Millions jackpot. He also sported a new tattoo - a series of alchemical symbols circling his wrist - that resonates with his Wiccan beliefs.
But Bartlett, 40, an accountant from the working-class Baltimore suburb of Dundalk, insists the money won't change him. He continues to eat at McDonald's and buy his clothes at Wal-Mart.
After his winning ticket was validated by lottery officials, Bartlett said he would take his share of the jackpot in a lump sum. Three other winning tickets were sold Friday, leaving Bartlett's take at about $48.6 million - or $32.6 million after state and federal taxes.

I hope he has fun and i'm sure his family will take a well deserved break .I love to hear when us ordinary folk win the lottery. Here in Florida we always hear of some wealthy retired doctor winning who didn't really need the money.Congrats to you Mr.Bunky enjoy life.In the meantime my husband plays lotto on a regular basis and my list of what to do is always in the back of my head. You never know what could happen. Its nice to dream.

"I went in and just bought a change of clothing and got bombarded by some people outside of Wal-Mart who made some offers to me," Bartlett said. "Some wanted to have sex with me, some wanted to marry me, some wanted to be adopted by me."
Yes, my friend, it's begun and it's only going to getting weirder before it stops, if it ever does. My advice, take your family, your millions, and disappear for a while. Then teach Wicca as you promised your Deities after things have died down a bit.

This is very cool, and congrats to Bunky...
But I cracked up when I read that, two days after winning the lottery, he still eats at McDonald's and shops at Walmart.

Bunky is going to be on Good Morning America and the Today Show tomorrow morning. Gods, I hope that Ann Curry interviews him. She's a Fundie. Her mind will be totally blown.

I've known Bunky and his wife Denise for years now. If there's one word that can describe him, it's "outspoken". He's out of the broom closet with his feet up on the coffee table! :D
I'm going to the check presentation ceremony tomorrow with several of our mutual friends. After all, what's a circus without a few clowns?

Okay, what was that about the lottery being a "tax on either poor people or people who can't count?" *hears crickets chirping* That's what I thought.
Congratulations to Bunky!

I appreciate that he is being very outspoken about his Wiccan and Pagan roots, not hiding it.
Like I said we can't have enough Wiccan Teachers today and I am grateful to have another who can spend full time at it.
His family deserves this blessings, for no other reason then they are so down to earth.
Blessings Ed
