Pagans Gather To Celebrate Views

Author: Dirk VanderHart   Source: News-Leader (MO)

Title: PAGANS GATHER TO CELEBRATE VIEWS

They came to their religion in different ways, and everyone has their own way of practicing it, but it was their similarities the pagans gathered at Fassnight Park on Saturday were celebrating.

They'd come out for the ninth annual Pagan Pride Day, held each year near the pagan holiday of Maybon.

The event featured an array of entertainment and craft booths, as well as opportunities to have your palm read.

More than 100 people attended, though organizers believe there are many more pagans in the area.

"So many of them are afraid to come out and be public about it," said Kristi Waterworth, founder of the Ozarks Pagan League, or OPAL, which put on the event.

Concerning the lack of people attending :
I don't know if it's people not wanting to be public about being Pagan, rather then them just having a busy schedule.

There are a lot of Pagan Pride days. I have never been to one but I did attend, the T.A.W.N. (Tucson Area Wiccan-Pagan Network) Fall Festival.

Fun stuff! There is a Pagan Pride day in Arizona, but I don't know exactly where.

Not very informative, but at least it wasn't full of fundie BS ether.

As for the "no good or evil" thing, that seemed to be a poor way to describe the lack of good/evil duality in Paganism. Rather than having a black and white world, most Pagans I've met view the world on a gray scale.

Yes there is true "good" and true "evil" on the extreme points of the scale, but there is a very large gray area as well.

There's No Such Thing As Good And Evil? Oct 1st. at 12:12:55 pm EDT

I often hear it stated that modern Pagans do not believe in the existence of good and evil. Does anyone know the origin of this belief? Ancient Pagans certainly believed in the existence of beneficent and malevolent aspects of existence, when was this concept removed from Neopaganism? Nature manifests aspects of harmony, love, and compassion. It also manifests discord, violence, and destruction.
