Mom Says Clothes Send 'Demonic Message'

Author: Doug Magditch   Source: KSPR (MO)

Title: MOM SAYS CLOTHES SEND 'DEMONIC MESSAGE'

Mom Peggy Brother says she has a bone to pick with local clothing stores.

"A lot of kids are in to the satanic stuff right now," says Brother. "Now, you see them everywhere and I don't like them. There are so many other things you can put on the shirts."

These days, skulls have become an acceptable addition to fashion. And the trend is dominating some clothing stores' shelves.

She had the audacity to say clothes can make or break your personality while wearing THAT shirt? lol

...that this woman would love the picture that hangs outside my kitchen. It shows a raven perched on a human skull with the caption 'The Nature of Social Beings...the Day of the Dead'.

I picked it up somewhere or other and it just *speaks* to me.

Every time I see it I am reminded *not* to fear death. Maybe that's what these kids are really trying to do. Understand death, so it's less scary.

I'm not sure why this is even "news". That one person is unhappy with one very popular, very old image isn't news...

"Clothes can make or break your personality," says Brother.

OMG! What does THAT mean???? That personality has nothing to do with physical/mental/social development - and everything to do with CLOTHES ? What a moronic statement! So, does your personality change with your clothes as well? Are you one person on the weekends in your jeans and T's, and another at a gala event in full formal wear? How absurd! If clothes were what it took to 'make or break' a personality, prisons would do away with orange jumpsuits and all convicts would be wearing 'My Pretty Pony' and 'Hello Kitty' T-shirts!

GEEZ!

It's Strange.... Oct 2nd. at 12:54:36 pm EDT

treehugger452 (Germantown, Ohio) - Email Me

that people associate death with Satan. In fact, they are two different entities. Death is a neccesary part of life, and can be seen as sacred as birth. Satan is really a social contstruct, as is all religion. Fearing something that individuals, especially this woman, create for themselves is ludicris.
Further, fearing death tells me that this woman, whom is part of a religion that promises paradise for the faithful, isn't so sure of her eternal fate. That's sad. Even more sad is her decision to try to force everyone to live under her point of view.

Prima Facie Evidence Of Child Abuse Oct 2nd. at 10:43:11 am EDT

Terry (Irvington, Virginia) - Email Me

How about a t-shirt that said on the front in bold:

FVCK

CENSORSHIP!

and on the back:

Prima Facie

Evidence of

Child Abuse

That might be interesting, if those parents who decided to piss at schools, libraries, etc. about their own incompetence to raise kids with life skills for diverse society became automatic subjects of child abuse investigations by the process of spouting the complaints some like this one do.

For that to be workable, it'd require that child protective agencies be staffed with competent professionals ready to apply law in a neutral rather than dominant culture prejudiced manner, and deal with issues of emotional abuse and malicious bigotry driven neglect to teach diversity related skills, and do that in a manner that targets those child rearing criteria without illegal bias against pathological religions.

Willing To Speak? Oct 2nd. at 10:38:52 am EDT

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

She sees a problem, but is willing to at least speak of it, even though she doesn't see the bottom of the problem.

In An Unquiet Mind, the author, a noted Psychiatrist, described how Bipolar came upon her as an adolescent, with clinical depression, and a vision that she was already dead and rotting, as obvious to everyone, but nobody was willing to talk about it. Clearly, she'd been a bright and sensitive child, who saw a truth behind adolescence, that you're going to die, and all we see of Adult Misconduct is a frenzy of an unrevealed terror of Death. Adolescents are receiving this subliminal death threat of Puberty, and don't know what to do with it.

She's basically complaining of reminders of a morbidity that's been common amongst teens, when her mother was learning to dance. It's not even a new complaint, but it's a growth experience for her too, and she's willing to speak forth, a step towards Learning.

So, it may be a bit more Pagan, as Christianity, to offer to rip your heart out, for a guy being tortured to death, but we could also point out, proper Christian Fashions for Sts Valentines' Day, would involve hooks and beheadings, rather than the more Prechristian celebrations of Love and the approaching Spring.

I'm Getting A Skull-ache.... Oct 2nd. at 12:43:26 am EDT

nasionnaich (Stanchfield, Minnesota) - Email Me

So this woman is an expert in Satanism and Satanic clothing? Interesting..... Oh, wait -- it's just that the shirts LOOK "demonic" to her. Ok, well, we can all rest easy because the God Squad is looking out for their own best interests.

This woman really needs to stay home more. I suppose that next she'll be declaring "Macbeth" to be an ode to Satan -- because of the skull Macbeth talks to.

Why Do We Care? Oct 2nd. at 12:08:03 am EDT

Maeven (Los Angeles, California) - Email Me

Why on earth does this woman's opinion qualify as a news story? Obviously anything not wrapped in fluffy clouds with a bible and praying hands desperately clasped together she would consider "demonic." But more importantly, she's just a random unknown fundie nut job, so again, dear press, why do we care what she has to say? This was a loser news report.

How Did They Find This Woman? Oct 1st. at 11:26:18 pm EDT

Jeanne Lisbet (Calgary, Alberta) - Email Me

And why did they give Nutty McCrazypants column space?

"Local woman doesn't like the look of what teenagers are wearing - video at 11."

... really? Aren't there worse fashion crimes she could be complaining about? [Web LINK]

Tell you what, lady - I'll put away the skulls and crossbones, you ditch the mom jeans and "western" shirt emblazoned with an american eagle superimposed over the US flag. Deal?

Yes Friends, More "Satanic" Idiocy.... Oct 1st. at 9:59:49 pm EDT

Karl (Detroit Metro, Michigan) - Email Me - Web

Yes, that bad ol’ bibledevil is after our kids again. This article is more pitiable twaddle about a person who could be any one of the numerous and now-vacuous sheeple who are totally fear-ridden as a result of years of immersion in dogmatic bilge, and, who are virtually incapable of rational thought. The fundie prelates did a good job of programming her, but they have to be, in order to perpetuate their lies.

The ultimate goal of the fundie “Abraham”ic religionist of course, is to have their BS foisted on the entire populace, as they continue to do everything they can to eliminate Freedom and Liberty, while returning Humanity to the abyss of the dark ages, where deranged religionists and corrupt feudal lords ruled over masses of ignorant serfs. So, you think it can’t happen again do you?......

I’ve always found skulls to be fascinating, especially the full-size Crystal ones:
