Forrest LaBelle II shows real wizardry as a crafter of wands, but the Sun Prairie man still considers himself a squib.
"I don't think a witch or wizard can make wands," the 50-year-old said.
The Owlery Wand Shoppe, specializing in $5 and $10 hand carved wands for witches and wizards, piques curiosities each Saturday at the Great Falls Farmers' Market and at other festivals, craft shows and specialty stores throughout the year.
"They're probably the weirdest or strangest, really the only thing of that type (at the market)," Farmers' Market assistant manager Dave Bissonnette said.

Of course a Witch may make her or his own wand. Why not? Who better to focus and channel the appropriate energies into its making? If I did not make my own wand, I would not trust its intentions. I'm sure your wands are beautiful, but to make a statement such as the one made in the paper, I would have to ask for your references. Certainly none of my mentors. And my mentors go back in time a hundred years or so. Did the newspaper mis-quote you? Or do you really believe that statement. Inquiring minds want to know... Xill

The wandmaker's website is desireesoapcompany.com There is an area set up where the wands can be viewed and ordered. I am glad there are folks out there who can and do make wands!! There are many of us who do not have the time, or talent etc to do our own wand making.

Witches & Wizards Can and SHOULD make Wands for themselves.
To say thaey can't or should not in ridiculous.
Having been a professional Wand maker for more than 20 years, I recommend that everyone make at least one Wand for themselves to better understand how to work with a Wand.
In my experience, all reputable wand makers encourage people to make a Wand and explore their own magical creative powers.

Why wouldn't a witch be able to make his/her own wand? I made mine, and all it cost me was a very small mess of tree bark that needed to be thrown away from the dead tree branch that i found. Though, how interesting to find someone selling wands at a farmer's market; certainly not a typical location to see such items for sale.
