Shaman In Practice

Author: Yonat Shimron Source: News Observer (NC)

Title: SHAMAN IN PRACTICE
Victoria Johnson doesn't tell strangers she practices shamanism.
She prefers to call it "healing work." If someone probes further, she'll offer more details, but telling people she's a shaman invariably conjures up an image of a witch doctor, a wizard or a sorcerer.
Johnson, who will be speaking on the Shaman's Way of Healing at the Unity Center of Peace Church in Chapel Hill on Saturday, said she is none of the above.
A former FBI agent and later a federal prosecutor, Johnson embraced shamanism slowly, and for the most common of reasons.

Siberia, I wonder when they'll finally put it all together that when the Alaskan ice bridge formed & the sea levels dropped worldwide, people also came via Antarctica. Athena Publications archaeology is mentioning dates in Peru that are older than sites found in North America.

Lady Eagle Spirit (Austin, Texas) - Email Me

I am a member of a freelance forum where we do discuss various forms of religion and I recently brought up Shamanism for a discussion.
This article will add more information because our discussion is trying to disband the mythos and misguided beliefs that some people have about Shamanism.

Tempest (Oxnard, California) - Email Me

I have studied the Medicine Path under two local Medicine Men, Renee Smiling Eagle, a Navajo; and, some may know him, Paul Skyhorse, an Ojibwa. I have been studying under them for about seven years now. But to get to the article.
It was a very basic article, general information, at least they did not go making outrageous statements about the Medicine Path, and the woman picked for the article is down to Earth, not some new age yuppie. Glad they presented these ways in a good light.
