A Circle Of Thanks

Author: Leslie Boyd Source: Asheville Citizen-Times (NC)

Title: A CIRCLE OF THANKS
As harvest season comes to a close, Pagans observe Mabon, a celebration of the richness of their lives, and begin the six-week spiritual preparation for the Celtic New Year, which begins Nov. 1.
Priestess Byron Ballard leads the rite at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Mystic Journeys, 333 Merrimon Ave.
Mabon is celebrated at the autumnal equinox, and Ballard and Jill Yarnall have added a local twist to the celebration.
“We’re calling it a harvest homecoming,” Ballard said. “It comes from the old mountains tradition of churches having a special day when old members come back and everyone makes those cherished connections again.”
