Jesus Camp’ Shuts Down

Author: Eurweb.com Source: Eurweb.com (CA)

Title: JESUS CAMP’ SHUTS DOWN
The youth camp in Devil’s Lake, N.D. that was the evangelical training ground for tomorrow’s “Christian Soldiers” has surrendered to bad press. Months after the film “Jesus Camp” was released, the real camp featured in the flick has been vandalized and Camp Director, Becky Fischer has received a flood of disapproving e-mails.
A Christianity Today report indicates that the owner of the campground asked Fischer (who was renting the facility) not to continue after $1500 worth of damage to the campground in October.

Becky Fischer, as far as I can tell, is an idolator, a demon-worshipper, and a Pharisee.
I'm glad she's out of business, at least for the time being.
I'm glad to see the kind of brainwashing sh*t I was exposed to as a kid brought to light.
I wish I thought the problem were over. But it predated Becky Fischer-- hey, she had to get the idea from somewhere-- and it will postdate her as well.
And I'm very, very sorry to see that, as usual, the human response to the problem includes vandalism and violence...
...those age-old tactics of warfare that will resurface in the hands of the other side as material for psychological operations.
Round and round and round it goes; where it stops, nobody knows.
*sigh*

This has not shut down and will not shut down. They have only gone underground (or at least to ground level) where it will be harder to keep an eye on them.
Jesus camp did not arise out of a vacuum just as Hitler didn't.
The environment of fear and ignorance that spawned this latest expression of fascism still exists and will generate other "Jesus Camps".
Vigilance, my dear fellow Pagans, is the price we pay for freedom.
peace, samhain.

I for one am glad the place shut down but don't think for a minute that some south end a horse moving north won't start one up again. If that should happen a Goddess Camp in the same neighborhood would be a place I would be willing to invest in.

but under the circumstances I am pleased to see the camp shut down. I did not see the film so my knowledge of this camp is only from what I've read. Either way is does seem to have crossed the line into fanaticism. And Haggard spewing his hatred of homosexuality really is throwing stones in a glass house. I wonder if Haggard read the recent news article about the gay animals.

From the article:
"After its release Haggard himself became a critic of the film saying it was misleading, comparing it to Fahrenheit 911 and The Blair Witch Project."
This has to be one of funniest lines ever uttered. Monty Python could not come up with material this good! More to the point, Haggard, Becky Fischer and this ilk are more like something spun out of Bradbury's 'Fahrenheit 451' (not F911) .
best, Gene

Actually, it WAS more political than religoius. In fact, it was extremist. After all, weren't these people using Bush's image as something to bow to during the brainwashing sessions? Frankly, I'm glad they shut it down, but it makes wonder just how many other camps like this are being fostered for the dubious "benefit" of those who do not really need them- and who they are actually going to blame for the setback. If feel sorry for those indoctrinated, since that can't be corrected as easily, but I feel a bulldozer appropriate to repair any other damage to the camp.

I hate to sound this way, but I'm glad.... we DON'T need this kind of thing in the world today. I sincerely hope it wansn't Pagans who vandalized it, but in any case, it's better off gone.... maybe I'm being a doomsayer, but if you teach a very young child something like that, it could lead him or her to kill later on in life. besides, children don't' need that sort of thing inflicted on them. I hope they recieve the help they need....

If you teach hate and judgementalism, then that is what you shall receive. Hate begets hate as the saying goes, just as love begets love.
Fight with knowledge, not in ignorance.

I doubt it was Neo-Pags who vandalized the camp, but it's more in keeping with a rebellious "Soldier."
I specify "Neo-Pags," because the entire camp seems to be Pagan, as Jesus himself would use the term. The Worship of Jesus is not really a sin, but simply not what Jesus was teaching; Jesus describes this as poor architecture. Jesus Camp was washed away in a flood.
"Perhaps Pastor Ted regrets how he comes off in the film and is expressing it by criticizing us, Becky, and the children in the film. What he calls “negative” and not “normative” we see as simply true and accurate. As for us, we will continue to share “Jesus Camp,” with people from all backgrounds and beliefs and learn from the profound discussions that result from this film." [Web LINK]
This may have been posted before Haggard's Embarrassment. The Trailer is on-line. [Web LINK]
When we establish a Witch Camp, I want to use a Druidic Curriculum, teaching the kids to teach others to think. Jesus suggests this'll make'em brighter.

Honestly, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but that was really disturbing. If I saw a Pagan summer camp like that, I would be utterly disturbed. I despise brainwashing in any form, especially the brainwashing of children.
However, I will be bold enough to say that many Islamic and Christian traditions are so far removed from their own tradition that they seem to be the forerunners of these types of groups, and I just don't understand why. I think Mohammad and Jesus are somewhere saying to each other, "What in the hell are they doing?" "I don't know, but I can tell you one damn thing. It's exactly opposite from what either of us tried to tell them." You know, both of these are Abrahamic traditions. The other of the three, Judaism, is completely out of this violence mess (Isreal's motivations are not Judaism's motivations, but political) .
One of my professors in the Religious Studies department told me that we've got nothing to fear from another religious "mafia," and that it would more likely be a corporate takeover. However, I'm starting to wonder just a little bit.

| Sympathy?? | Nov 18th. at 9:39:20 am EST

Dennis Deal (Nazareth, Pennsylvania) - Email Me - Web

My only sympathy is for the kids that have gone through this...indoctrination and for the owner of the land that had to repair the $1500 dollars worth of damage.
Beyond that I have no sympathy for an organization thats leadership had been shown to hypocrites and more interested in power and money than any "salvation" .
But as with any cult the believers are forging a head regardless of anything that happens at the top. Believing that were not mislead, but that one of their leaders was tempted and fell.
Ordinarily I would be cheering such loyalty. However this is not loyalty, as a fanaticism that is as dangerous as any Islamic fundamentalism.

I most sincerely hope it was not Pagans who vandalized the camp. That is private property which was simply rented to the Christian group.
