Gone, But Not Forgotten

Author: Bob Makin   Source: New Brunswick Home News Tribune (NJ)

Title: WICCAN RITE IN E. BRUNSWICK HONORS LOST LOVED ONES

As Joseph Dzielak squeezed his wife Charlene's hand, a tear rolled down his cheek, and the monitor next to his hospital bed blipped. He knew that some 40 friends and family were gathered around him as he was about to lose a sudden fight against cancer.

Three years later, many of those loved ones once again will gather on Saturday during a Samhain celebration at the Unitarian Society of New Brunswick on Tices Lane in East Brunswick.

The annual event, organized by the Hands of Change coven of Wiccan and other pagans, will remember the dead with an Altar of Ancestors. Dzielak will place the last photograph taken of her and her late husband of 30 years on the altar as a way to "connect" with him.

About past Samhain celebrations, the Old Bridge resident said: "I felt him there. I know he knows that he has not been forgotten . . . far from it."

This is a very moving article, and one of the few that but Wicca in a positive light

Young Coyote (W. Hempstead, California) - Email Me

Not only was it a very moving story but Wicca was placed in one of the most positive lights I've ever read. And all without having to go through the motions of giving a general explanation of what Wicca is.

*Begins slow clap*
