Memorial Focuses On Religious Freedom

Title: MEMORIAL FOCUSES ON RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
At the end of the 22-minute ceremony, a bell was rung 22 times in tribute of Mustang 22, the call number for a Chinook helicopter that was shot down by enemy fire and crashed in Afghanistan on Sept. 25, 2005.
Last Monday (Sept. 25), a Lights of Liberty Candlelight Vigil was held at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery to pay tribute to Sgt. Patrick Stewart and four other soldiers of Mustang 22, who died a year ago that day.
The celebration honored the soldiers’ service and sacrifices and it also underscored American constitutional freedom of religious.
Roberta Stewart of Fernley has spent a year battling with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (DOVA) to have the Wiccan pentacle placed on her husband’s memorial plaque at the local veterans cemetery.
