That Old White Magic

Author: Jill Bauerle   Source: The Union (NV)

Title: THAT OLD WHITE MAGIC

The next time you need a mojo bag, a self-esteem candle or some "get a job" oil, look no further than The Sacred Bee, a metaphysical shop on East Main Street in Grass Valley.

Since Paul and Andrea Racko opened their doors last September, they've kept the community supplied with all variety of magic potions and accouterments, all designed to help people create harmony in their lives

While the twin towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City already have a reputation for being magical, it seems that locals can't get enough mojo in their lives. The couple says business has been bubbling.

In addition to metaphysical supplies, in-house priestess and clairvoyant Andrea Racko gives psychic tarot readings and teaches classes in subjects as diverse as rune readings, the Wicca religion and self-esteem.

What A Great Article May 22nd. at 10:02:22 am EDT

Lady-hearted Mojo (Irving, Texas) - Email Me

I, too, thought this was a very nice article. And after reading, ad infinitum, about how Wiccans practice White magic, I love the fact that the shop owners mentioned the concept of Gray Magic and give an accurate description of what Gray Magic is; so big kudos to them.
Contrary to popular belief, most Wiccans practice Gray Magic because most of the magic we do, even for good, is manipulative. Properly defined, White Magic doesn't include any type of manipulation and has very limited uses because of that fact.

Kudos To Jill Bauerle For A Wonderful Article!! May 21st. at 11:31:43 am EDT

Heather Lynn Fairfield (Canton, Massachusetts) - Email Me

When wonderful and positive articles like this are written, it would be nice if our community took the time to thank the reporter.

(I just did!)

Too often, misinformation about Paganism is presented in the media as fact. Come on guys ... how many times have we all written to blast some reporter who got their facts wrong?? We should be taking the time to properly thank and appreciate the ones who take their time, do their homework and get it right.

Ms. Bauerle ... if you get a chance to follow the link to this commentary that I sent you in my email, I hope you see the positive impact that your well-written article has had on the Pagan community.

Thank you so much!!

I had to laugh at the Free Time Oil for the man who landed three jobs after using the other potions. I guess it is the "be careful what you ask for" as I am dealing with the same.

I am always happy to read good things of stores that cater to the pagans' needs and to help people in general be better. I have a friend in the Orlando area who has a new age shop. She refuses to sell "love spell" kits or oils as she feels this does not allow for free will for the recipient of the spells.

I wish more new age stores would follow suit when it comes to "love spells". Just my own opinion... :-]

it made me smile and laugh a bit, and it was a very positive article. They need to have more of those out there.

At least, the oil worked! There were times when I could have used a little "free time oil" myself. LOL

What A Lovely, Positive Article May 20th. at 11:14:19 am EDT

Stormsinger (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) - Email Me

Here's a paper that gave the journalist the space to do it right, and a journalist who took the time to understand. Well done for all concerned!

And I LOVE the "Free time oil" story!!

If I get out to Nevada, I will definitely look up the Sacred Bee.
