Witch Has Voodoo Doll For Arpaio

Author: Hanna Scott   Source: KTAR

Title: WITCH HAS VOODOO DOLL FOR ARPAIO

A Las Vegas witch plans to travel to the Valley to deliver a special Halloween package to Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

"We call it a voodoo-doo-doo doll," said "Magical Marissa," a self-proclaimed high priestess who's heading out from Sin City to drop the doll on Sheriff Joe's doorstep.

I agree a little on Tent City, it does seem to work, though I think forcing people to live in an un-air conditioned tent in almost 120 degree heat is totally inhumane.

However, a majority of Joe's antics more directly affect the regular jail, and not everyone there is a convict. Until convicted of a felony, a person still has all of their legal rights and Joe has totally trounced all over them. Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"??

If you are going to curse someone at least have the courage of your convictions. Don't try to play it off as Karma (I'll come back to this in a moment) . If you make a threat, set deadlines, and use props... then you are the person threatening to use magic. Nothing is more revolting than a witch who wants to avoid ethical responsibility for her actions.

Lets go back to the terminology now. It isn't "Karma." Please, unless you are Hindu or a Buddhist, stop using this term. You clearly have no idea what it means or how it functions. Bad Karma built up in one life will apply to the next (or perhaps all the next) . The ideas of Karma, Dharma, and Sensarma are complex and relate to a specific theological belief system. If you MUST cling to this fanciful notion that justice will find those who do wrong, call it "what comes around goes around," or some cute name like the Wiccan's "Threefold Law."

Also, it isn't a Voodoo Doll. Unless you are a practitioner of Vodun, that term does not apply. I suspect the term poppet or moppet is more correct in this case. If in doubt, be clinical and use "effigy." I also don't think much of a witch who has to travel to, converse with, and threaten the object of her malice. The magic either works or it doesn't. And if you have the power to curse someone, then you have the power to effect a change in the behavior without cursing them too. You don't require their knowlege of your workings at all. This kind of behavior smacks of a witch that is all bark and no bite.

I'm not a Wiccan, just a witch. I don't have any ethical problem with using magic to curse, bless, influence, and/or kill. I do have a problem with someone who uses magic to do these things but deludes him/herself into thinking they can lay the responsibility off on some cosmic justice. Take responsibility for the bad things you do and credit for the good things you do. People may disagree with your choices, but at least they will respect your honesty. See below:

Just A Few Examples Oct 24th. at 7:41:27 am EDT

Of Sheriff Joe's bad Karma:

1. Tent City (kind of obvious)
2. The inmates in his jails are fed pig slop (I know someone who experienced Joe's "hospitality" and worked in the kitchen. The food was marked "not for human consumption")
3. Inmates are REQUIRED to recite the Pledge of Allegiance (even if not American) 4. Inmates are REQUIRED take ESL classes if they can't speak english (not a bad idea for people to learn english, but who is he to decide this for them?)
5. Inmates can now only recieve mail if it is a postage paid postcard, unless it is legal documents from the court or an attorney.

Joe has made himself into a dictator, and yet keeps getting re-elected.

Even though this is not specifically a pagan issue, Sheriff Joe is bad for everyone, IMHO.

Curses Foiled Again? Oct 24th. at 12:31:34 am EDT

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

``I want him to change his wicked ways or, as of the time I deliver the doll on Halloween, at noon at Tent City, his karma will start to affect him,"

I hope this blessing comes back three fold.

The Tent Prison isn't the sort of place people should want to return to, and it should offer perspective on whether it's better than the usual alternatives. Of course, if it's a better prison, in terms of damage done by graduates, it's probably the lack of Psychotherapy. Tents actually sound friendlier than Cinder Block.

Has her magic earned her enough, in Las Vegas, to provide for all that Air Conditioning?

Just because it's close to Halloween and don't have a "witch story", dosn't mean you have to find some inrellivent story to put out there.
