Disturbing New Info In Covington Teen's Death

Author: Local 12 News Source: WKRC TV (OH)

Title: DISTURBING NEW INFO IN COVINGTON TEEN'S DEATH
Disturbing new details are released today about the murder of a 17-year-old Covington boy, details that involve allegations of vampirism and witchcraft. The five adult suspects charged in connection with Travis White's murder were in a Kenton County courtroom this afternoon.
Brian Golsby and Kasey Dodson are charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Investigators say Golsby and Dodson, who play roles as vampires, used their 14-year-old lover to lure White to a home in Covington late last month.

No mentions of child rape in there. In fact, there's not a whole lot of information at all in this article. Sounds a little sensationalist to me.

There's virtually no info in this article. How can anyone even form an opinion? Where does it say they admitted to vampirism and witchcraft? All I see that it came up in court, but it doesn't say how or from what or whom. What I see is generic sensationalism and a Shrek mask. It sounds like a group of adults and teens having sex with each other, yet no mention was made of statutory rape, which is also confusing. And why did they beat and stab this kid to death? Yes, it was horrible, but what the heck was going on that even led up to this? You would think someone would actually write an actual STORY so we can follow some thread of congruent thought, rather than just throwing around a few sensationalist words and calling it an "article". Sheesh!

Reading the various posts regarding this article, it looks like not everyone picked up on where the police got the idea that the suspects (yes, they're technically still just 'suspects') were into Vampirism and Witchcraft.
Because that's what the suspects told them, is why. Let's not jump to the comclusion that the police were jumping to conclusions, 'kay?

...scapegoat, like the Witches and the Jews. Draken is right - the Gothic subculture is separate from the Vampire, although one can be both. It is a beautiful lifestyle with some mind-blowing fashions for the more intellectually-minded. Of course, you'll always get your odd 13-year-old with a bad dye job dripping cheap eyeshadow, who thinks Goth means throwing cold glares at everyone and wanting to die, but no one takes those people seriously... except, apparently, the Covington detectives. Unfortunately this isn't going to help the Gothic community, who hasn't made as much headway dispelling myths as Witches. Two disgusting, despicable people used a child to help them murder a young man, and because they dress in black it's 'All Vampires are murderers. Oh, and let's throw the Goths in there too. And the Wiccans. Wiccans are the same as Goths, after all.' Be careful when condemning a whole group - you might just be lumped in with them.

WARNING: IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED, SKIP THIS COMMENT. DO NOT BLAME ME IF YOUR ROSE-TINTED LENSES FALL OUT.
Seems to me that this is just a very morbid LARP that spiralled out-of-control.
By the way, contrary to the popular beliefs of intentionally-misinformed sheeple, "goth" and "vampirism" can exist as separate paths. I'm 30 years old and consider myself goth without being a vampire (even though I've been to enough vampire-themed parties in NYC to make people think otherwise, but hey, vampires throw the best parties) . To the idiots out there who seem to think that "goth" and "vampires" are just for high-school-age emo kids, I suggest reading the following:

I'm glad these good Christians found themselves a champion.
I'm a little surprised, that the detective on the case testified to the Autopsy Results.
Does any trad use a Crescent Wrench as a ritual object, and also a baseball bat?
I don't know why these are accused of Role Playing as Vampires, which is common in Second Life (r) , but I noticed a Shrek Mask, in one photo, which is evidence that they murdered because they role play as Disney Characters.
Vampire is part of Goth Culture, I think, closely associated with Adolescent Morbidity. The proper military aspirations of a good and normal ten year old are likewise Pubogenic, so it's a matter of Nature, Nurture, and Prior Incarnations. To wear a black tie does not a Raven make, but the motivation might be there.

...That is what should be of concern...so that people can make sure their teens are healthier than this or can at least spot the warning signs of potential abusers.
What I just read is predatory journalism. Vulgar. Dull. Incomplete. Sensationalist. Vapid. Less than mediocre. Lacking.
Were the perps into role playing? Dabblers of this and that? What?
This type of journalism is not an examination of the story as much as it is a reflection of The Forces of Good™ vs. The Forces of Evil™ dualism that treats anything that doesn't fit into the norm (monotheism, especially Christian monotheism) as the cause for whatever currently horrifies the public. So much for professionalism, personal excellence, decency, robust pluralism, truth in reporting, and correlation does not imply causation.
There is no belief set, path, or religion exempt from the criminal, insane, stupid, or embarrassing. I mean, come on. We've all read the stories of Christians who murdered (strayed, heh) .
Abuse on a Social Scales May Include (But is Not Limited to) :
* Ridiculing and misrepresenting paths/religions/practices for less than truthful, fair, educational, or constructive purposes. * Denigrating/marginalizing paths/religions for not living up to impossible perfection/purity, else they are what causes or leads to crimes, violence, and "what's wrong with society today." * Failing to appropriately clarify/inform/expound/differentiate/identify while putting the other path/religion/whatever on the offensive.

| "If You Think You're A Witch, You Are?" | Mar 18th. at 1:46:35 pm EDT

Dana Corby (Anderson Island, Washington) - Email Me

Yes, these people are monsters. But this story illustrates the logical flaw of the belief spread by 25 years of bad books that 'if you think you're a Witch you are one.' Witches cannot hold that belief and then, when a case like this appears, as it does about once a year, say that the perpetrators are 'not really witches.' As long as there are no standards or guidelines for defining the modern Witch, those of us with ethics and compassion cannot distance ourselves from those who lack them by simply protesting "They're not us!"
At least these particular monsters aren't calling themselves Wiccan.

Moonlight Wolf (Bradford, England) - Email Me

The people who did this are truly sick and seriously need to have their heads examined. Sadly there are always going to be those on the psychotic fringe of life. Oh and about the 14 year old girl, the adults in this situation should also be charged for paedophilia, she is not old enough to be classed as their 'lover' although I will class her as a fool for covering the behinds of these sickos.
On the sensationalist side I do not see how there is evidence of Witchcraft or Vampirism going on here. The only link is that it says they like to play roles as vampires. If I was a Vampire, whether a sanguine one or a psychic one, I would not want to be associated with these murderers. Similarly I am not comfortable with the fact that they associate these people with Witchcraft with too little evidence to back it up. Yes you get loonies and psychotics from all faiths but if it was a bunch of Bible thumping Christians their faith would probably not have been brought up.
