Judge: Runaway Ohio Teen Can Stay In Fla.

Title: JUDGE: RUNAWAY OHIO TEEN CAN STAY IN FLA.
A judge has ruled in the case of whether an Ohio teen who ran away from her parents for religious freedom can remain in Florida.
A number of activists protested outside the Orange County Courthouse Friday in anticipation of the hearing. They said Rifqa Bary, 17, will be the victim of an honor killing if she is sent back to her parents. They said Bary's safety is their primary concern.
They want to draw attention to their cause, but they say the teen's safety is their primary concern.
News 13 has learned DCF wants a two-week study to see if claimed threats are credible.

I'm reminded of something I've read recently.
Shortly before WW1, there were numerous terrorist attacks by Mohametan groups. A military governor in the Phillipines at the time, General Pershing, somehow managed to catch 50 such terrorists and lined them up for a firing squad. In the minutes before most were executed, he brought forth two pigs, killed them, and dipped the bullets in their blood. He then ordered 49 of them killed with the 50th released to say what happened.
For the next 40-some years, there wasn't a single terrorist attack committed by a Mohametan group.
If the modern military were allowed to do this, the so-called "war on terror" would be won inside a week and so-called "honor killings" like what is threatened won't happen in the US.

and avoid her family altogether. The family is likely to say anything to get her back in order to kill her, so her fears about that may be very real.
If a christian child were to convert to Islam, he might be ostracized, but not usually murdered. He or she might be sent back to the family.
Apostasy, in Islamic countries however is a capital crime and any who chooses another religion over theirs, (even when forced to accept Islam against their will) is often treated worse than the average murderer.
A Muslim child who accepts another religion is considered a traitor and thus is subject to a possible "honor killing" by members of her family. If she returns, or even sees any member of her family, could put her in grave danger.
"Honor killing" is a tragic misnomer used to justify a cruel and useless action against someone because they chose differently in their beliefs.

Did anyone remember that a lot of those honor killings are done by the same age group like brothers and male cousins?

Let's define what honor killing is first.
An " honor killing" is a despicable practice in some countries in the mideast and in Pakistan ( usually Muslim dominated) were supposedly a woman or a girl has brought " dishonor" to the family so that a male relative has to in effect murder her. Now , what is considered dishonor or shame to these people? How about the girl being raped by a male relative ( the relative, OC, is not punished) , or if the family is in the West ( like Canada or America) and the girl decides that she won't wear the traditional dress, that she will date and get a job outside of her parent's wishes.
There have been " honor killings" in the West. There is one case where both the father and the mother were convicted for murdering their daughter while the mother held her down, and the sounds of that murder were caught on FBI surveilance. There is another murder of a young woman whose family was part of a group in Canada who loved a man they did not approve of and both were lured to Pakistan or India where the uncle killed her and framed the boyfriend/husband for murder.
It is a disgusting, barbaric practice that they haven't dropped when the left their countries.
The young woman has good reason to run away and fear she will be " honor killed'. For the sake of her safety if nothing else, she should be protected from her family.
BTW " honor killing" is not really a specific religious practice, though it is " justified" by the murderers that way.
