Alternatives To Traditional Healing Growing As People Explore Spiritual, Natural Cures

Author: David Zizzo   Source: NewsOK.com (OK)

Title: ALTERNATIVES TO TRADITIONAL HEALING GROWING AS PEOPLE EXPLORE SPIRITUAL, NATURAL CURES

Georgia can't swear they work. But she's convinced they do: those special oils, crystals and other stones.

"I don't go to the doctor very much,” she said.

The woman, who won't give her last name, runs Raven Feathers in Norman, which her Web site describes as "a metaphysical store that caters to the Wiccan and pagan communities.” Many people who believe in and use such things don't like to talk about it, she said.

"Some people it helps. Some people it won't help,” she said. "I don't know why that is.”

There are plenty of things like that out there, things that plenty of people think do amazing things for health and beyond — allowing a sense of well-being, lowering stress or doing something that just feels right. There are so many such things that fall outside the traditional forms of medical and psychological treatment — some further than others — that it's hard to know how to classify them.

Traditional Healing Isn't... Jul 11th. at 11:36:34 am EDT

Silverwing (Colorado Springs, Colorado) - Email Me

The current practice of "medicine" takes the so called scientific approach which is relatively new if you look at the continuum of healing arts back through history. So, the title of this article indicates to me that folks still don't understand. And, maybe they should. The article, to me, wasn't altogether clear to those who could benefit from it that there is a lot more to healing and being well than pharmaceuticals targeting specific symptoms can possibly provide.

It's good to see individuals exploring something outside of manufactured drugs to help themselves but, there is a long way to go. Baby steps back to understanding ones self, integrating and finally healing. I wish it could be worded better than what I just read.

There is a lot out for people to read. Some of it is very superficial with mass market appeal. Easy to read like this article. Some requires a bit of work. Hoping more people start here and pursue the origins of what causes their "dis-ease" and so can move as far as possible away from this purported "traditional (but isn't) " healing.
