The Hex House Burglarized

Author: Ewa Roman Source: WHP-TV CBS 21(PA)

Title: THE HEX HOUSE BURGLARIZED
A local infamous murder site is burglarized.
It was the home of Nelson Rehmeyer, also known as a witch doctor. He was beaten to death, then set on fire back in 1928. Today, his only remaining family member is trying to keep his legend alive.
"Ever since I was a small child I would ask my grandparents what had happened, what went on here," says Rick Ebaugh, Rehmeyer's great grandson.
What happened at the house that sits off Rehmeyer's Hollow Road is what has some in North Hopewell Township still a little spooked.

Lady-hearted Mojo (Irving, Texas) - Email Me

...the case that inspired Apprentice of Murder, but the victim was no "witch-doctor" he was hexmeister. These people helped people with problems they were having much like the Cunningfolk of England and the Rootworkers of the south. Btw, Apprentice to Murder is a great film to watch as it includes Pow-wow practices.

Rhiannon (Shamokin, Pennsylvania) - Email Me

I believe this is the murder that was the basis to the movie Apprentice to Murder several years ago. Interesting piece of history.
