Update: U.S. Gov't Backs Off Plan To Seize Flight 93 Memorial Land

Title: U.S. GOV'T BACKS OFF PLAN TO SEIZE FLIGHT 93 MEMORIAL LAND
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says the U.S. government will not use eminent domain to seize people's land for a permanent Flight 93 memorial and instead will renew negotiations with landowners near the terrorist crash site in Somerset County.
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., and Salazar met with families of victims and landowners on Friday in Shanksville to discuss issues surrounding the planned national memorial for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, fatal hijacking.
Specter's office said Friday's meeting also focused on what still needs to be done for the memorial to be complete in time for the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2011.

As if one bout of trauma isn't enough, here comes the next. I doubt they'll build a memorial to families that are victimized by eminent domain. The overarching issue to me is that, if we try to place a memorial every place a human atrocity was ever committed, we will simply run out of inhabitable space. Humanity will be forced to live in the open desert or on shrinking ice floats with the polar bears. Just let the grass grow, plant some corn, move it along. Sad event, yet, but life goes on. Because it must. But no, let's engage all these senators that apparently have nothing better to do (like save this ***ing country) , punish some farmers and build a massive, hoaky memorial for trauma fetishists. Meanwhile, try to forget that the 9/11 Commision's conclusions on the matter of Flight 93 are highly suspect AT BEST. How do you cement the history you want? Just bully the big lie and stomp out all opposition. The Nazis didn't invent the practice, they just perfected it, and modern politicians don't even skip a beat over it.

The article text explicitly states that Interior Secretary Salazar gave a one week extension of negotiations, then it was back to Eminent Domain. That's just the old carrot-and-stick routine, not a true "backing off" from the plan to just take the land.
What's next, the Flight 93 Memorial Reservation?
Their memory deserves better than what's being done in their names.

it's hallowed ground, in my humble opinion. NOTHING should be put up there, except for what's left by grieving family members. It should be left alone. That land is a graveyard and the idea of building some grandiose structure over it is a grave insult to those who died. There are many bad memories still clinging to that land and it needs to be left in peace.

This story and the announcement made by the government are nothing more than windows dressing and mean absolutely nothing! They hold out seizing the land as thier next step so they really haven't done anything except given themselves extra time to get that paperwork in order to get a jump on the lawful landowners.The government has just gone way over their constitutional limits with this land grabbing trend we've seen these last few years. First all of a sudden the government is allowed to seize your land - even though it's fully paid for and the taxes are up to date - and gift it to a private developer who is going to build a strip mall or a walmart or another one of those damned "gated communities" with thier "homeowners associations" and no-say dictatorial rules so this already well off developer can make scads more money on YOUR property; and now they are going to steal these people's land because some assjack terrorist crashed a plane. Any attempt to force these people off thier land should be met with shotguns on the porch stoop.

The entire flight 93 memorial project has been taken over by such hyper PC fools that when it was shown to them that the design for the "memorial" was in fact a giant Islamic crescent aimed exactly at Mecca they said that since no one could PROVE the intent of the designer it could not really be true the it was a memorial to the hijackers rather tan the passsengers.
The "circle of peace" was broken by the actions of the PASENGERS in diverting the flight cutting off part of the circle into a crescent. The remaining arc is EXACTLY the same shape and proportions as an Islamic crescent and is oriented exactly at Meccas just like every mosque. Glass blocks represent ALL of the lives lost in the crash and the only ones INSIDE the memorial proper as the ones representing the hijackers!!!
Bells (which are a source of evil in Islamic law) numbering the same as the PASSENGERS dangle in the middle of the memorial from a tower the top of which is another crescent. The image I get is of souls dangling below the Islamic Cresent.
I am about the most NON conspiracy theory type person I know but this is just blatant and appaling.
More appaling is how the project folks' answers to these issues make no sense whatsoever.
