Pagans Gathering To Celebrate The Solstice

Author: Carolyn Click Source: The State (SC)

Title: PAGANS GATHERING TO CELEBRATE THE SOLSTICE
Candy Johnson found her religion in the woods of her family’s Connecticut farm, although it was years before she realized the natural world was her spiritual home.
Now she calls herself a witch, one of a number of Midlands pagans and neo-pagans who take spiritual comfort in the turning of the seasons and in the ancient worship of gods and goddesses.
“I guess I’ve always been — I just didn’t realize it,” said Johnson, of northeast Columbia. “I found solace in the woods as a young girl rather than being in church.”

Elwin Shadowstrider (Bartlett, Tennessee) - Email Me

Goddess Bless You and hold you. That is how I found my faith in the Goddess, finding out that the woods and Wilds were more of a spiritually calming place than any church. Yet, I too took many years to find my faith in the Goddess. The same as Candy, it brightens my day to hear that others learned the same way I did. Blessed Be! Brightest Blessings to all!! Draken (Bronx, New York) - Email Me - Web

*That was brought home to South Carolina in 2001, when controversy erupted over prayers used to open town meetings in Great Falls. Darla Wynne, a Wiccan, sued to prevent the town council from opening meetings with only Christian prayers. A federal judge ruled in her favor, saying that sectarian prayers violated the First Amendment right to freedom of religion.*
Actually, that whole clusterf*ck started when Wynne tried to report a crackhouse to the town hall when someone pointed out a Pagan bumper sticker on her car. Why the media continues to propogate the myth that Wynne's a social agitator instead of an innocent victim of various hate crimes is simple: Circulation.

Race is still being argued about in schools? Does the quote "seperate but equal education is inherently unequal" hold any meaning for these people??? And there should be not arguement about seperation of church and state and of limitations on speech.
