Blackman Resident Asks ACLU To Join Fight Against Bible Park

Author: Turner Hutchens   Source: The Daily News Journal (TN)

Title: BLACKMAN RESIDENT ASKS ACLU TO JOIN FIGHT AGAINST BIBLE PARK

One Blackman resident is objecting to using tax money for what he calls "an inherently religious" project — Bible Park USA.

Joseph Dassaro has sent a letter to the American Civil Liberties Union asking the organization to take up the fight against the proposed Bible-story theme park in the Blackman community because it is religious in nature and as such shouldn't be supported by the government. Dassaro said the park violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment, which prohibits the government from supporting a particular religion.

Developers are requesting millions of dollars in tax-increment financing to help pay for the park.

ok ok i think this is funny but technically they will all burn in hell for this because according to the xtian bible making idols is against one of the ten commandments and well lets face it a theme park is a giant idol. Hahaha i think thats more funny than anything but on a serious not the theme park is bull shi*.
Much love to ALL my Pagan brothers and sisters

It Would Be A Waste To Build It.... Apr 2nd. at 6:41:38 pm EDT

bigcat (peoria, Illinois) - Email Me

I consider it an insidious waste of both land space and taxpayer's money to build a ridiculous xtian disneyland, when we have so many other tributes in their faith already. That money could serve the community so much better in so many other ways, and I pity any that are forced to pay for such a travesty made only to rape both minds and pocket books.

We are the fastest growing religion in the world and it is nearly impossible for a newby to even talk to a pagan as we are scared that coming out of the broom closet will ruin our carreers, community standing, and chances for our childrens sucess, especially if one lives in Christ Crispy land. Build a theme park? Great! then we can be just like them.

I could give half a crap (literally) if they build it but not with tax payer money that my dear brothers and sisters is illegal. Well not necessarily you see it comes to a matter of semantics. I have actually personally run into this sort of thing before and while I won't go into a long story I will say this. It's a matter of common sense vs. loop hole (the best way i can think to state it) . Common sense dictates yes this is totally illegal 1st amendment rights and so forth (i'm just trying to make this short and sweet) . On the other hand If any other religion hasn't been denied their wish to build a (insert religion here) based them park but has the technical "right" to then this could actually land in the xtians ball park because it then becomes a case of discrimination because if any religion has the technical "right" (notice how i quote that) to use tax payer money to build a religious theme park with tax payer money then it can be construed as discrimination because any religion has the right to but you won't let them do it. What you have to understand is the first amendment is intrepreted as an all or none. In the world of legalesse (thats what im calling it) if one religion can they all can. So in that sense if any religion is allowed to use tax payer money to build a them park then they all can. For the record I am totally against xtians building brainwashi.... I mean theme parks but the legal system doesn't run on common sense, it runs on layers and layer of semantics and in the end whoever has the best wins. Now with that being said if they do we rejoice because then WE can build a theme park and no one (in that area) can legally stop us.

They're Trying To Set Precedent Apr 1st. at 8:54:25 pm EDT

Rubyglare (Sacramento, California) - Email Me

if they do get tax-payers' money it will be the end, they'll subvert all they can to themselves & only (Christians) themselves & shall blame the terrible results on not getting more money/more power as 'failed cities' happen everywhere stand as mute witnesses to Christian insanity.

We Already Have Tributes To The Bible Apr 1st. at 8:40:33 pm EDT

For those looking for Gospel history, we have the Vatican. For those wanting a taste of the O.T. or Torah, we have Jerusalem. And for those who wonder what life would be like under a Christian theocracy, I submit that he should travel to Iran and inserts the name "Jesus" for every "Mohammed", and he'll have a pretty accurate picture. Seriously, this idea is beyond lame. Most Christians I know (granted, they're Catholic, which is a whole other breed than the Evangelicals who want a rock concert instead of a mass, but still) want to do the "Christian thing" on Sundays and Holy Days and want the rest of the time off. As one poster had mentioned, why don't they simply take over the Bakkers' old park and seek to continue in their mission of ripping people off in the name of faith? As for a Wiccan park, isn't Disney with its fairytales, spells, castles, and knights pretty much it? Hmm, I wonder what would be the comparison between the number of people who want to go to Disney and the number who will attend "Watch as your Jewish neighbours get totured by the AntiChrist after the Rapture" land. Does anyone care to make a wager?

We should support the park. And Petition for a Witchworld Park right next door. If their petition can go through, why not that one?

Good idea, Batman!

In more than one case, enthusiastic support can be a powerful weapon. When I was in the Air Force and some washed-out pilot in charge of me had a lame-brained idea, sometimes my enthusiastic support would be the fool's downfall.

Now, why would we support this? Folks, the answer should be obvious!

If they can have one, so can we, and they would not be able to stop us!

No, Wait... Apr 1st. at 6:22:46 pm EDT

....I think we should support the bible park. Yes, support it. Then, when it falls flat on it's butt, and I guarantee that it more than likely will, anyone in the future who is a business entrepeneur looking to invest in something will avoid anything remotely resembling anything like this. Why am I so convinced that a bible park will fail? Because most true xtians aren't in it for the novelty side of things and will or at least should abhore a rediculous idea such as this. Those xtians that are in it for the novelty side of things will only be able to be entertained for so long, as xtianity as a rule of thumb isn't all that novel. In fact, let's face it - most things xtian get pretty dull pretty fast. The park can only fail. Therefore, we should support it. After all, shouldn't this show the TRUE caliber of xtians as to how faithful and/or spiritual they truly are?

I Think Pagans Could Make A Better Park Apr 1st. at 2:50:38 pm EDT

What with gods/goddesses/fairies/fauns/salamanders/undines/sylphs/gnomes AND magic we could have, maybe, disneyland. And, we would not have to make truly stupid comments about its historical accuracy - like Williamsburg, come on, get an education for heaven's sake. - or for my sake at least.

Bible Theme Park Apr 1st. at 2:27:00 pm EDT

foreverknightfan (Dardanelle, Arkansas) - Email Me

That should be PRIVATELY funded.

Can you imagine the outcry if it was a theme park focused on Buddhism or Islam , or ( gosh and golly gee) Paganism? The ACLJ would be in uproar about the governmemt funding " false" and " alien" beliefs.

If I remember correctly the Bakkers had " Heritage USA" which was supposedly a theme park resort thing for Christians only. Supposedly that land and the buildings on it are not being used. Seems to me if this group wants a "Bible park" they have one waiting to fix up and use from whomever owns Heritage USA now. All they would have to do is buy it from the current owners, refurbish it, fix it up a bit and rename it.

And asking for government funding means they would be beholden to " Cesear".which means they would have to allow gays, non-Christians and other " undesirables" as employees and patrons.

This whole situation is just BEGGING for a Monty Python parody.

Would there be a " stoning" ride? How about a game of slaughter all the nonbelievers?
