Wisconsin's Selena Fox Says Pagans Abuzz About "Unicorn."

Author: Tom Heinen Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Title: WISCONSIN'S SELENA FOX SAYS PAGANS ABUZZ ABOUT "UNICORN."
People at an international summer solstice gathering in Ohio organized by a widely known representative of contemporary paganism from Wisconsin are abuzz about the recent discovery of a deer at a wildlife park in Italy with a single, unicorn-like horn in the center of its forehead.
Although identified as a genetic mutant, the deer is being seen as a propitious sign and as an addition to the list of possible explanations for the enduring myth of the unicorn.
"Unicorns are considered sacred creatures in ancient and contemporary pagan traditions," said Selena Fox, founder and senior minister of Circle Sanctuary, a Wiccan church, resource center and nature preserve with a worldwide ecospirituality ministry on a 200-acre nature preserve about 30 miles west of Madison.

Some years ago there was a goat who was made to look like an unicorm. I think the Frosts had that one and sold it to some circus.
I honestly think making such a fuss over a deer with a deformed horn and calling it an unicorm is ridiculous. We Pagans have a hard enough time as it is trying to show the public we AREN'T s bunch of nuts and kooks and people living in fantasy land. And now Ms. Fox is in glee over this.
Oh crap there goes our credibility again.....

This specific deer will hardly lead a charmed life. Most likely it will end up in a zoo, which is quite bad enough, although a natural life in the wild is no blessing for this poor creature. Like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest, this 'unicorn' would be in for hard times indeed, come mating season. I suppose we should all be grateful it doesn't understand proper english, or it would up and die of embarrassment at the very least.

...it's adorably cute?
Seriously. It's a cute yearling deer with a unicorn horn. I want to hope it's a good omen for something.
Or maybe Pan just thought we'd all appreciate it ;) .

seems there is this little girl who just had two of her legs and two of her arms off so that she could stand a chance at living past her teens? in India she is hailed as the living embodiment of the goddess. wile in the west we understand it as a botched identical twin. why not, why couldn't this girl indeed be a goddess as both Hinduism and paganism say we all are (or god if you like that better ;) ) and why can't we just say any one horned creature is a unicorn. " are the thoughts of a unicorn real thoughts?"

Since when did being a witch mean you had a schizophrenic disassociation from reality? Can't we enjoy nature as it is with out "glaming it up" with fantasy and delusion?

This is downright silly. I had the distinct impression that unicorns have lived and continue to dwell only in the realm of fantasy and the imagination, of archetypes and astral constructs. Just like dragons. Going apesh*t over a mutant deer is beyond embarrassing. This is apparently a pagan variation on stigmata. Is human silliness as infinite as deep space?
