    Dec '99 Thou shalt not suffer a Witch to live .... There is a persistent misconception in the Pagan community that the phrase in the Bible "Suffer not a witch to live" is a mistranslation of the original Hebrew; that the word actually means not "witch", but "poisoner". This claim doesn't hold up under scrutiny, as you will see in Paul Hume's inquiry into the meaning of the original Hebrew word "makesofha". But then, he goes onto say, why should we care?     Dec '99 Gimme a Spell! .... Two wise authors give insight into how to separate the merely curious from the true seeker. They agree that some of those who ask for spells truly want to learn, and they deserve to be taught spellcrafting. As for the others—well, there's a very funny reply quoted in one of the essays; "Honey, this ain't Spell-Mart!". Page 1 - 2

    Dec '99 Can You Ever Have Too Many Athames? The always thoughtful and plain-spoken Niall Leighton was the only person to take on the subject of "Can You Ever Have Too Many Athames?". He does an excellent and witty job of trying to "filter out the twaddle from the gutter end of the New Age marketplace". Don't miss this one!

    Nov '99 Gender and Nature in Contemporary NeoPaganism is an in-depth look at the connections between the social/political movements of human rights, feminism and ecology and religion. Salamantis contends that the basic theology of Western monotheism has driven the ecological degradation we are currently dealing with, and cautions that Pagan thea/ology, too, has possible traps of bigotry and gender expectations we must be careful not to fall into.

    Nov '99 Psychic Development The Psychic Development topic gave us three excellent essays explaining how to develop one's psychic ability, as well as the reasons for it.
