Nice that Utne Reader noticed!

New Witch is published by BBI Media, who also do Sage Woman and Pangaia. There's a lot of editorial overlap between the magazines. It's not the ideal pagan mag for me, but the negative comments posted here by others are not really warranted. The ethos of the magazine is not that "witchcraft is about being hip" or "shock mom". It's just trying to offer something for the younger generation, who tend to have a lot of activity in their lives - school, new career, shifting social circles, etc. They've had some really good articles on pagan music, working in a coven, etc.

The total market for pagan publications is not huge; I'm delighted that the community can manage to support several different magazines with different flavors to them.

Can Anyone... Oct 29th. at 9:04:34 am EDT

Thank You Oct 29th. at 7:08:51 am EDT

being a witch is not about being cool it is about the religion not the fashion and someone needed to say that

as for the coment on Silver Ravenwolf's books they are too expensive and i bought a bunch of them before i saw Scott Cunningham's books

stupidest mistake of my life

"Hip Witch"? Oct 29th. at 2:31:36 am EDT

by Silver Hawk (Oregon) - wc_xemail

Yeah, that is what my ancestors were looking for those centuries ago - to be hip. I had never seen, nor heard of this magaizne, so I went to their website and read what they had to offer. It's a gothic Young Miss! Great rebellion material if your a teen, but it gives being a Witch that slimey Hollywood trend feel. I don't know about anyone else out there, but being a witch to me isn't about being hip, shopping at Hot Topic, or freaking out your mini-van-driving soccer Mom.
Maybe I'm just old and take my religion too seriously....

WHAT?!? Oct 29th. at 2:17:49 am EDT

by Katrina Stone (Portland, OR) - wc_xemail

Why do so many people like this magazine? It's shallow, superficial, and is extremely dumbed down. I purchased one copy with Fiona Horne on the cover. It was AWFUL! I should have known, seeing as it had, well, FIONA HORNE on the cover, but I thought I would give it a chance. I was disappointed. But I guess this stupid crap sells. I mean, look at Silver Ravenwolf and the other authors who dumb down their work to sell to the idiots with the "GIMMIE NOW!" mentality.

I Love NewWitch Oct 28th. at 8:07:26 pm EDT

by Ivy (SoCal) - wc_xemail

I love this magazine. Its great that there is a 'hip' witchy magazine out there! They published one of my articles and I was honored! :)

NewWitch Oct 28th. at 8:03:38 pm EDT

by Stormwind (Canada) - wc_xemail

I have an article upcoming in NewWitch--I think it's going to be next issue's "Voices" contribution. I can't wait to see it! This is a well done magazine and I'm proud to be part of it.

Will Be Looking Now! Oct 28th. at 7:03:27 pm EDT

by Labrys (Wash. state) - wc_xemail

I really like the Utne Reader, so the magazines they recommend must be worth a look. Can't wait to take a peek now at the new one!

Good For Them! Oct 28th. at 5:26:53 pm EDT

by Morgan Ravenwood (Arizona) - wc_xemail

I subscribe to NW and can't wait for each new issue. Despite the bad press it received some months ago over the Hot Topic incident, I think it's one of the better Pagan mags.

Holy Cow Goddess! Oct 28th. at 3:19:57 pm EDT

by TishMaran (Mass.) - wc_xemail

I know this magazine well, and I am positively surprised that they nominated New Witch...they surely now must be one of the most progressive of all the alternative healing mags.

Awesome! Oct 28th. at 1:46:59 pm EDT

by Aslaug (Iowa City) - wc_xemail

Despite being at the top age of their audience, I still enjoy everything they do. Especially because they have an Asatruar on staff! That certainly makes ME happy. Great job newWitch!

Hmmm Oct 28th. at 1:21:15 pm EDT

Never heard of this Magizine before I'll have to look into a subscription...
