Falwell Seeks One Million Charter Members To Moral Majority Coalition

Author: Jimmy Moore,Talon News   Source: Men's News Daily (CA)

Title: FALWELL SEEKS ONE MILLION CHARTER MEMBERS TO MORAL MAJORITY COALITION

Religious conservative leader Jerry Falwell is hoping to attract one million members to his newly formed group, The Moral Majority Coalition (TMCC). In a message sent to supporters on Tuesday, Falwell said he is "launching a campaign to enlist the first one million charter members of The Moral Majority Coalition."

Falwell hopes to implement a three-pronged strategy with TMCC, including getting pro-life, strict constructionist U.S. Supreme Court justices and other federal judges nominated and confirmed, passing a constitutional Federal Marriage Amendment, and electing another socially, fiscally and politically conservative president in 2008 as well as more conservative members of Congress in 2006 and 2008.

A charter member card will be mailed to everyone who registers for the free membership to this group.

Another Smirking Fundamentalist Dec 4th. at 1:17:05 am EST

by Ani (WV) - wc_xemail

Yup... I joined too. Something I said to a couple of my friends about intelligence-gathering being a crucial effort in any war.

Yes, it is a war. Regardless of who started it, I believe that Falwell and Friends serve a fell master. I believe that I serve a good one.

Who should I ask to pray that I am not mistaken?? (Laughs maniacally...)

Well, even if it has no other effect at all, the Immoral Minority Coalition or whatever they're calling it this time now has one more member it can't count on.

Condemn me if you want... Just please toss a little gasoline on that tinder so we can get it over with quick. I'd need to get my lecture from the All-Mighty at a goodish pace, so I could get to digesting the material, so I could learn enough to come back and try again.

There's no point in dragging feet when there's so much work to be done.

Think I'll take Jerry's request to heart and forward the sign-up form to a few of my own friends.

Yeah, I kind of think what I'm doing is disrespectful. But, to quote one of said friends, terrorists deserve no respect.

Be blessed.

I thought that GF's god was going to 'call him home' if he didn't raise a particular amount o money back in the 1980's? Makes me wonder if GF's god changed his mind and left him here to torment the rest of us. What a false prophet that man is. This kind of thing is viagra to the fundies.

Let The Games Begin..... Dec 3rd. at 10:29:27 pm EST

by tonayallicue xanthe (midwest) - wc_xemail

but we have to make sure they do not win, because in the end we all lose, except the fundy leaders - who will have fatter pockets and even fatter heads.

"bring America back to her Judeo-Chrisitian heritage......" funny thing is, those extremist Muslim terrorists who blew up the trains in Spainn were trying to reclaim the long ago once-Arab-Muslim (Moorish) occupied Spain , they wanted to do the exact same thing!

6 and 1/2 dozen of the other!!

wait! i thought this was a "different kind of war" (and wasn't 'nam the exact same excuse?) - why not use a different kind of strategy or ideology?

whatever happened to being original?

Here We Go Again Dec 3rd. at 9:51:16 pm EST

Didn, t this nut get enough of this the first time around. The more this man tries to start up the Moral Majority the more he looks like the fool he is. I thank the Gods and the Goddess that I can think for my self, to bad the Christian Right cannot.
The difference between the Left and the Right is that we don, t have anyone like Russ Limbaugh, or Mick Regan to tell us what to think so we just have to THINK for ourselves, what a concept.
The more the christian right trys to control everybody the more people will slip through their fingers, as it should be.
Bright Blessings from the Land of Enchantment

If It Weren’t For Us... Dec 3rd. at 5:13:38 pm EST

by Taliesin (Seattle, WA) - wc_xemail

Well just think…if it weren’t for us who are decidedly and most happily not like them what on earth would they do? They need us….for having us around inspires them to mobilize and organize and feel righteous about themselves without which they in turn would all kill each other.

I Also Joined. Dec 3rd. at 12:36:04 pm EST

I once worked with someone who was involved in a political fiasco at our place of employment. His noteworthy involvement was that he refused to "take sides" in the issue, and so was an object of fear and suspicion by most everyone.

His motto was "Keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer." I think that more than applies here.

I Think Every Pagan That We Can Reach Should Join Dec 3rd. at 9:31:19 am EST

by Jeff Kincaid (Ground Zero ( aka Lynchburg VA....Jerrytown)) - wc_xemail

I am going to send this link to his site to all the local Pagan lists here in Lynchburg, home of his mountaintop lair. Hey wait a minute.....didn't another "great leader" we all love and revere have a mountaintop lair ? I think it was called the Eagles Nest.

For those not familiar with the indiviual of who I speak, it was Adolf Hitler who turned the Obersalzberg mountain top retreat of Berchtesgaden into his "Eagles Nest".

Sounds a lot like Liberty Mountian with it's Christian residences and dorms overlooking Lynchburg.

To quote 80's diet/exercise maven Susan Powter, we must "Stop the Madness!"

Peace and Light

Jeff

I JOINED !!!! Dec 3rd. at 8:52:06 am EST

by E.L. (Blue Yankee State) - wc_xemail

I also joined. This way I can see what this degenerate is up to. I will also inform him that there are several Pagans in his ranks now and will let him know how some of his new "members" feel about his BULL$#!+. Might as well try to make a mockery of it. Humor in the face of your adversary can be stress reducing.
Also, someone else mentioned about reporting him to the IRS. This is a good way to find actual supporting evidence that he is violating the IRS Codes for tax exempt status. Then write letters with this evidence included.
The war against the right wing will be long and tough. If we pace ourselves and keep the pressure up little by little, we have the possibility of defeating Jerry and others like him.

Suprise Suprise! Dec 3rd. at 3:47:30 am EST

by GreyWolf (Portage IN. USA) - wc_xemail

Why should we all be shocked? Hatred and bigotry never sleep and seldom die. Fallwell's brand is especially resilliant . We all have been dealing with this monster for too many years to count. As long as this schmuck is alive he will continue to appeal to the Xristian right wingers self righteous psychosis.
BTW, upcoming on the Sundance Channell will be a new film documenting the resurection of the Xristian Taliban. Keep an eye pealed out for it. Heard a interview the other day on NPR's Fresh Air with the filmmakers. They believe that Fallwell is going to grab a relatively small percentage of the right wing attention span, and that the big monster right now is Dobson's Focus on the Family.

Look Who Is Back At It Dec 2nd. at 11:40:42 pm EST

by JustAWolf (Marquette, MI) - wc_xemail

I thought Jerry was busy cranking out "Christian Lawyers" from his university to do his bidding. Guess plan Afailed, and plan B is now in the works.

Thinking of it, this sounds like another deal a church in San Fran does. $100 for a card. Hmmm

RESCIND HIS TAX EXEMPT STATUS NOW!!! Dec 2nd. at 7:54:28 pm EST

by Just Me (Just Over There) - wc_xemail

"Reverend" Jerry Falwell has enjoyed tax-free status for his ministry for many years now. It's time he got a taste of what it is truly like to be an American.

Churches and ministries who delve into specific political campaigns as Mr. Falwell is clearly doing are in violation of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and are not subject to tax exemption. He has already been challenged on this. It's time he paid the piper.

"The tax-exempt status of churches and other religious organizations is governed by
Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. To be tax-exempt as an
organization described in Section 501 (c) (3) , an organization must be organized and
operated exclusively for one or more of the purposes described in the section, such as
charitable, religious or educational, and none of the earnings of the organization may
benefit any private shareholder or individual."

"Internal Revenue Service rules prohibit a church from engaging in the following activities:
• Endorsing political candidates
• Making donations to the campaigns of political candidates
• Engaging in fund raising on behalf of a political candidate
• Distributing statements supporting or opposing a political candidate
• Becoming involved in any other activities that may be beneficial or detrimental to
any political candidate
In addition, the church may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities. However, church staff and church members may support any candidate or issue they choose on an individual basis. Failure to comply may result in the loss of the
church's tax-exempt status."

Irritating Dec 2nd. at 6:31:57 pm EST

by Wild_Huntsman (Toronto, Ontario) - wc_xemail

If North America has roughly 300 million people, then, by definition, a majority would have to number over 150 million. Falwell is just a little short. But then he never claimed to lead the majority, just to speak for the 'silent' majority who are assumed to be out there, and assumed to be behind him and his retrograde ideas. Based on last month's vote, he might well be right.
For anyone who chose not to vote, remember, 'tacit donet consentire'. (Silence gives consent) .

The other (minor) irritation is the given acronym. The Moral Majority Coalition should be T-M-M-C, not T-M-C-C as the piece reads. It's apparently not just a typo, because he uses the same wrong acronym through the article.

Oh, Goodie! Dec 2nd. at 2:59:00 pm EST

by e (S. CA) - wc_xemail

Here comes Herr Falwell and the "Moral Majority" again. I can hardly wait. I wonder how long it will take this time for the "Majority" to realize Herr Falwell's group has nothing to do with morality, and everything to do with taking their money and his megalomaniac vision of "King Falwell Rules Amerika"? Or like last time, when they just plain get bored?

Ah, the hubris is getting deep, better get out the hip boots again.
