Sorting The Scams

Author: Paige Lauren Deiner   Source: Monitor (TX)

Title: SORTING THE SCAMS

Finding a psychic can be a confusing, sometimes disappointing process. It’s difficult to navigate between the charlatans and the people who may actually possess the sixth sense, between the seers who are looking out for your best interest and those looking for a fast buck.

But psychics say there are ways to find a medium that will charge fair prices, help a person develop spiritually and find answers to his questions.

Science though, questions whether psychics really do possess a sixth sense, or are instead people read body language well and infer meaning from what a client discloses.

I Wonder... Apr 26th. at 11:38:48 am EDT

is there a difference between 'seeing' the future, and 'predicting' the future.... I say yes.
If you 'see' the future you are saying this is what WILL happen, no doubt about it, no way to change it because you SAW it and that is how it WILL happen. Anyone who claims to be able to do this is full of it IMO.
Now to be fair... we can logically 'predict' the future, or an outcome of some event, using reason and logic, but that's an entirely different kettle of fish, no? I believe reputable psychics 'predict' the future, not 'see' the future.

No one's future is set in stone, it changes so if someone tells you that this WILL happen, then don't fall for it! I do readings, but I won't accept payments and I am weary of those that keep coming back over and over...week after week. I do readings about once a month for most people I know or longer. I would never pay to have a reading done especially when I have friends that can do a pretty good job.

Caveat Emptor. Apr 24th. at 7:59:46 pm EDT

bigcat (peoria, Illinois) - Email Me

If the psychic has to ask too many personal questions, or if "evil spirits" are mentioned, and money is needed to quell them, beware. That often can be a scam. And if the reading is done in a messy noisy atmosphere, getting your money's worth might not be easy either. A psychic is not usually at their best if cradling a crying baby, or trying to deal with family business at the time he\she is doing a reading.
And while more expensive ones abound, some good readings don't have to be so costly. As for reading the future, The form of divination used may be able to point to certain trends toward one kind of possibility, but not necessarily the outcome, which is why only assumptions can be made which may or may not turn out to be true.
I think the most sensible thing I ever heard was"Always in motion is the future. Clouded it is and hard to see."
A good psychic may be able to tell what might be going on without having to ask so many questions, but I feel they should do so with the hope of actually aiding the questioner in some way. And they never claim more than what they are truly able to do-- or see. And they should always use tact, especially if the trend may point to something dire. This is what often determines the ethics of a psychic.
There are all kinds of questioners. Hopefully, the psychic will do their best in whatever form of divination used to give the most from his readings, to the satisfaction of all who come to ask. Still, for the searcher, Caveat Emptor.

The psychics I have known will not even attempt to predict the future, even when asked nor will they give advise about what a client should do. I've had two readings and they read me like a book. They read my wife as well. Additionally, we all have that ability because it was given to us by the Creator. All we need do is develope it.

Psychics? Apr 24th. at 2:04:55 pm EDT

Ahr-Ohn (Bridgeport, Connecticut) - Email Me

"Alones said that there are mediums out there who really do possess the sixth sense, but that at the same time there are people who only pretend to. He said a real psychic should be able to tell you about your past, your current life and your future without asking any questions."

How am I to discern which life is current, without a bit of Focus? Would you like to know what your future will hold, 5,000 years ago?

"Benham said the danger of using a psychic is that the seer may not have the same code of ethics that a therapist does. A therapist works to foster independence, whereas Benham said he is not sure that psychics have that same goal."

A Therapist is going to do some Healling, regardless of Label. One man's Therapist is another's Quack.

Since when is a Code the same as a Goal?

Personally Apr 24th. at 11:22:39 am EDT

... I don't think all psychics are 'deliberate' scam artists, but I also don't think they can 'see the future' either. Some may truly believe that they can, in which case, IMO, they need a reality check, but believe it has a lot more to do with being able to read people moreso than the future. In many ways this can still help their customers with problems if the psychic is a good people-person so it's not all bad.... but anybody claiming to be able to predict or read the future because of some 'gift' is a charlatan in my opinion. There are simply way too many variables and random events to be able to accurately know what is going to happen in the future. It's hard enough to know what will happen in one's own life let alone someone elses.
