At War With The Mystics

Author: Al Diamon Source: KeepMEcurrent.com (ME)

Title: AT WAR WITH THE MYSTICS
This isn’t going to be another one of those extended rants where I’m trying to disguise the fact I was too lazy to do any real work this week, so I had to fill this space with a list of all the stupid things the Christian Civic League of Maine did lately. I usually save that column for the dog days of summer.
Although, Lord knows, I’m tempted to roll it out early.
First, there was the tantalizing item in the league’s daily e-mail newsletter of April 19, in which the group announced that, the U.S. Constitution notwithstanding, certain religions “which worship the forces of darkness” should be banned.
That seems like a pretty good description of the U.S. Congress, but that doesn’t appear to be the author’s target. Among those singled out for banning are Wiccans, pagans and Gnostics (defined by the league as anybody who’s read “The Da Vinci Code” or plans to see the movie). These fiends are responsible for, among other outrages, Goth fashions, tattoos and Spike TV.

I am seriously beginning to wonder how the christian faith could have got so far from their original purpose. Do they know so little about their own faith as to not know that originally they were a gnostic faith. Also that sort of hate that they spout is the very thing that is destroying their faith. When they are done conducting war on us they will turn on each other much like the Nazi party does to itself. This sort of hate based faith is truly pathetic.

They'll have to ban themselves next if they keep this up. After all, not too many will be sure which form of xtreme xtianity will be correct. After all, these are a "people" who aren't really satified with peace, even on their own terms.

Except for the fact that I don't think it would work, my Pagan patootie has been talking about wanting to ban religious groups that encourage the spread of evil for years.
Remind me to put the Christian Civic League of Maine on the list, right under Westboro Baptist Church and any group that has ever played a Falwell video in a favorable light.
Yes, I'm speaking in frustration. No, I don't favor taking away anyone's right to practice the cockamamie pile of self-deception, self-glorification, and self-indulgence that passes for their religion.
This is America, dammit.
But it's really tempting sometimes. Really, really tempting.
I'd love to say they'll never pull it off. But I also happen to believe in Wizard's First Rule.

“There is no room in a modern age for superstitions which contravene reasonable standards of ethics,” wrote the nameless author (probably league executive director Michael Heath) , “or which seek to manipulate the forces of darkness by casting spells and incantations.”
That seems like a pretty good description of the U.S. Congress, but that doesn’t appear to be the author’s target. Among those singled out for banning are Wiccans, pagans and Gnostics (defined by the league as anybody who’s read “The Da Vinci Code” or plans to see the movie) . I'm Gnostic, but have read The Gospel of Saint Thomas, rather than The DaVinci Code. Any Christian should also be Gnostic, but I'm not sure Jesus would count any follower of Saint Paul as being Christian. (Who died, so the Council of Nicea could inherit?)
Anyways, if anyone wants an authoritative reference for Goth Fashions, try Englebert's The Lives of the Saints.
Interesting point, is that Religion only began in the past few decades. Before Judaism redefined the term, the only Religion was Christianity, but those who accepted Infant Baptism were not knowingly baptised in the Name of Jesus, while those who didn't accept Infant Baptism were not of the Universal Christianity, so there were no Christians. Jesus did, however, leave much Wisdom, for those who did not hide behind the Labelling.

Opus the Poet (Garland, Texas) - Email Me - Web

About him deducting a work of fiction from his taxes because it mentioned a member of the Maine Congressional delegation as a cure for erectile disfunction. Usually politicians cause erectile disfunction, not cure it.
How has the project to get Xtianity classified as a hate group been going? You know, all that call to kill witches, not to mention global genocide as the ultimate sacrifice to appease their lord and master...

By this logic, the Christians would have to take responsibility for all violence on Earth.
