Forest Vicar Warns Against Dabbling In The Occult

Author: This Is Gloucestershire Source: This Is Gloucestershire

Title: FOREST VICAR WARNS AGAINST DABBLING IN THE OCCULT
Gloucestershire vicar Nick Bromfield is warning Foresters not to dabble in the occult after a sheep's head was put on a pole outside one of his churches.
The churchman says he has spotted several signs of black magic worship while out and about in the Forest of Dean.
But he says even seemingly harmless events such as pub psychic nights and crystal readings can cause untold damage.
And the vicar, who attracts some of the biggest congregations in the Forest, fears people are being conned, hurt or frightened out of their wits.

Sounds like an opportunist to me. Some nut case is mutilating animals, and the "Good Vicar" is doing his "job" by using it as a opportunity to scare his parishioners into either returning to his church (read: leave the "tea leaves" and psychics alone) or he's trying to increase his numbers, because they were falling. Typical, nothing new here.

he sees sigs of "satanic activity"... This is NOT true Satanic activity, as the Satanic Bible SPECIFICALLY forbids blood sacrifice, or anything remotely of that nature. This incident, as are most of the incidents involving the harming of some poor animal, is the work of seriously dysfunctional people who make up their own "Hollywood" version of faux satanism as they go along. As is explained by the FBI's Agent Kenneth Lanning, such people are virtually always highly dysfunctional teenagers and young adults who are looking for an excuse to act in a societally unacceptable way, (i.e., "the Devil made me do it." What they are really doing is acting out their own inner fears and frustrations, taking it out on defenseless animals, and falsely imagining themselves to be real magicians, when they are actually just sick, demented fools.

How does a vicar.. Presumably christian.. presumably has nothing to do with the occult.
How would this supposed man of god even know what occult activity would look like to begin with?
Just because it does not look christian does not autmatically make it occult.. It does not automatically make it anything.. Other than some nut who wasted a perfectly good sheeps head.
Which also leads to the other question.. Where did this head come from? Or rather where is the rest of it?

to the family of the sheep whose head was used so cavalierly. That was probably a complete waste of meat and wool. As for the vicar, well, he has to justify his job some way in order to get people to pony up to the pews. But just because someone sheeped a pole doesn't necessarly mean it's pagan. It may mean that there's a wack job out there trying to scare people and did manage to get a typical kneejerk response from the local church..

it occurred to me that with all his pronouncements on the evils of psychics and tea leaf reading and such, he's scaring his own parishoners better than the psychics? People are afraid of what they don't understand, even more when they refuse to be educated about something they don't understand. This fellow just comes off sounding like he's stuck back a few centuries. Is there a way to properly return him to his original time, like the Dark Ages?

If he didn't say something once in a while, he'd be in danger of looking obsolete, even redundant.
So he's only saying the things he says so that he can keep his own job.

I'm glad that he's just worried about the satanists and the people who stuck a sheeps head on the church grounds and not all pagans, thats a nice change.
