Billboards On Tampa Bay Roads Duel Over Existence Of God

Author: Dong-Phuong Nguyen Source: St Petersburg Times (FL)

Title: BILLBOARDS ON TAMPA BAY ROADS DUEL OVER EXISTENCE OF GOD
Two billboards, in Hillsborough County near Fowler Avenue and 17th Street and in Pinellas County near Ulmerton Road and U.S. 19, are the latest in a publicity blitz over religion. They are part of a national advertising campaign by the United Coalition of Reason.
A group representing people who do not believe in God or any gods has revved up an awareness campaign in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
The United Coalition of Reason paid to have two billboards erected that feature a blue sky with clouds and the words: "Are you good without God? Millions are."
The move is the latest in an advertising blitz involving religion that has people talking.

To be honest, I find fundamentalist Atheists even worse than fundamentalist Christians. In my experience, they're CERTAINLY more bull-headed and obnoxious to talk to, not to mention arrogant (since atheists tend to equate being an atheist with being an intelligent, reasonable person) . Don't get me wrong, a Christian can be impossible to talk to (as can a Pagan, a Jew, or any person from any group) , but the way an atheist smirks, rolls their eyes or chuckles when any spiritual person says anything regarding spiritual truth just galls me.
It's one thing to be an agnostic, and to believe that MAYBE there is a deity or a spiritual realm but that you personally haven't seen the evidence for it yet, but to be an atheist is to believe that there absolutely ISN'T a deity or spiritual realm, and that everyone (that being the vast majority of people who have ever lived) who believes otherwise is lacking in some special mental capacity or ability which you and a select "Scientific" few happen to possess. It's so phenomenally arrogant and inherently dismissive of other people that (as prejudicial as it is) my opinion of someone automatically drops if they label themselves an "Atheist". My opinion sometimes comes back up if we discuss it a bit and they decide they're more accurately described as "agnostic", but if they insist on hard-line Atheism I can't have much respect for them as a well-rounded character.
Also, at least a Christian has good reason for trying to force their beliefs down your throat- they believe that if you don't accept those beliefs before you die, you're going to suffer in a painful hell forever (and ever and ever and ever) . I'm frankly appalled when Christians claim to believe this and DON'T try to convert me. On the other hand, Atheists try to force their beliefs down your throat because they find YOUR beliefs ANNOYING and want you to believe the same way they do. The best slack I can cut them is that they have intellectual integrity and want others to share the same quality, or that they maybe feel compelled (as though they have a sacred duty to the Truth, not that their belief structure supports such a thing) to pursue truth and knowledge, but that's still not an equal reason to the Christian who thinks it's a black and white matter of you either being tortured throughout eternity or being blissful throughout eternity and that they therefore have to convert you on compassionate grounds and ALSO to the glory of their God who they believe to be the embodiment of perfection and love. That outweighs "Your beliefs annoy me" in my books.

Free speech isn't about the majority being able to express it's beliefs.
It's when people can openly disagree too.

We need common sense advertisements here in Anderson, SC. The author's name is.......DONG. I think I'll name my cats Fellatio and Cunnilingous as they are pretty Latin names. I could say they're Vietnamese.
