 Satan Worshipers Possible Suspects In Simon Slaying Author: Rocco LaDuca Source: Observer-Dispatch (NY) Title: SATAN WORSHIPERS POSSIBLE SUSPECTS IN SIMON SLAYING The last hours of Kimberly Simon’s life in 1985 were likely spent with a group of young men who worshiped the devil, tortured cats, used hallucinogenic drugs and sexually abused women, according to investigators who have been probing her homicide for the past 16 months. Investigators still are awaiting final test results comparing DNA found on Simon’s body with DNA from several people of interest. One member of that group — Richard W. Miller Jr. — died recently, and a local attorney who questioned him in the years after Simon’s slaying described him as once being a knife-wielding youth with a chilling obsession toward death. | |

Other times, the comment interface glitches. Today, it's the latter. So, here's my comment: I feel for those still missing Kim. I'd like for others never to know that pain. It affects families, friends, and communities. If education about abuse, power, crime, critical thinking, and related topics can help prevent one more murder, then all the effort is worth it. Don't make the mistake of thinking that a case being reopened is a good opportunity to "unwittingly" resurrect the Satanic Panic. Anyone can look up "Satanic Panic" or "SRA" on religioustolerance.org and the term "moral panic" on Wikipedia, for starters. Questioning, investigative and therapy techniques/protocols were changed to ensure that the ineptitude and damage of the Satanic Panic days were never to be repeated. We also know there are occult crime experts and occult crime "experts." Likewise, personal and journalistic standards are in demand, else yours becomes a sensationalist rag in many respects. |
