 Teens Accused of Stealing Skeletons for Party Props Author: Julia Mead, Kieran Crowley And Marsha Kranes Source: The New York Post Title: TEEN GHOULS STOLE SKELETONS FOR BASH: COPS Three Long Island teens removed decades-old remains from three cemetery crypts and dressed them up for a party - even putting a Darth Vader mask on one corpse, sources told The Post. Michael Herz, 18, and Michael Sossi, 17, are accused of twice breaking into 250-year-old Cedar Grove Cemetery in Patchogue sometime around Thanksgiving. A third teen, Patrick O'Rourke, 19, is accused of involvement in the second break-in. After the trio obtained an ossified body and two skulls, they allegedly brought them to a ghoulish Thanksgiving-weekend party at the home of a friend, Jessica Wess, 17, whose parents were in Manhattan seeing a play. | |

by Michael Herz (patchogue ny) - wc_xemail alright, let me clarify some things. first off, yes i am michael herz and i did open some graves and i did take some bodies and i did bring them to a a specific place (Jess Wess' house) , but there was nothing satanic or evil about this incedent. it was just a bunch of kids doing something thay have never done befor for lack of interest in the daily activities of normal life. it was just something new and exciting. the darth vader mask was just really funny. i know this has probably blown over by now, but i couldn't say anything untill today because my court case was still going on and my lawyer told me not to say anything to anyone, but as of today my court case is over and i feel like talking about it. as far as Jess being "totally not cool" with this, i cant say much about it but i can say she had more involvment than you think, as did a sizeable number of other people. as far as the truthfulness of the press story, well they did a decent job ith what they had to work with. if you have any further questions or doubt the authenticity of this comment you can email me at TaintedSoul00@yahoo.com. |

The press over did it and didn't tell the real side of it. I know these kids, and they are actually amazing. I have nothing but great things to say about them. Every teenager does a silly prank whether it be big or small, this was their prank. Please become fully educated on this topic before making judgement, because to tell you the truth. None of you were there..None of you have talked to these guys. None of you know the whole story...and neither do i, but i have an excellent idea of what went on. |

by thespookyone (Wading River, NY) - wc_xemail Herz was strange, dressed in black (fingernails painted, hair dyed, the works) , and was quiet. From what I remember he listened to Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and Staind. He would be considered in average society a "goth", "sicko", and a "freak." He came from a normal family, mother and father were nice. He grew up in a normal neighborhood, had friends that were normal. Kept to himself, was really good at video games (non-violent) , was a pretty nice guy to know (in my opinion) . Last time I saw him was a year ago, watching "Gone in 60 Seconds", talked about one of the cars toward the end. Herz's younger brother was one of my best friends (and will be, mind you) . I moved from Patchouge about a year and a half ago, to Wading River. In that year and a half span, something must of gotten to Mike. |

While I may not have been the best student and definitely had my share of trouble...in my four years of attending...we never heard of anything like this! I now live in Vegas and heard the story from my mother who drives a school bus for the school. It is disgusting and I am no longer "proud" to have graduated from there! As far as this "Goth" business and wearing black crap...SO WHAT! It doesn't matter what you wear you what music you listen to...they're monsters. End of story! |

I'm sorry, but breaking ansd entering, vandalization, corpse desecration--all felonies...this doesn't seem like a momentary lapse of judgement. This is certainly not the behavior of "basically good kids"--additionally, none of them are "kids"; they are adults who acted out of malicious stupidity. The goth comment seems like it was thrown in for sensationalism, but regardless as t what they wear or listen to, they are malicious idiots. |

I too am glad that Witchcraft or Paganism were not cited as reasons. I (being a goth) was a little disappointed that they reduced the subculture to black clothing, tattoos and body piercing (but I'm glad they tossed in that it wasn't Satanic - 'cause a lot of goths, like Pagans, get that all the time) And to Titania, don't worry ... it's definately not a behaviour that the majority of goths would engage in. Sure some of us may go for the occasional walk or picnic in a cemetary, but digging up graves would just get our pretty clothes dirty ( ;D ) - that and most of us aren't disturbed enough to go out and rob graves for kicks. (I don't know about Satanists ... I don't think the serous ones would do it though) for more info, try religioustolerance.org ... they have sections on both goth (because a lot of people mistake it for a religion or cult) and Satanism. |

I don't know much about either of these groups to know if this is truly behaivor they would engage in. There is a generation gap or two betweem me and the only supposed Goths I know. I wouldn't know a Satanist if the knocked on my door collecting for March of Dimes. However, for once Wicca and witchcraft haven't been sited as a contributing factor. I do happen to know quite a bit about these two paths and can say with confidence that corpse stealing is definetly NOT a practice Wiccans and witches engage in. As for the boys pelading not guilty, they can hardly expect to be believed inccocent after bragging about it to teachers and classmates. Not to mentino the witnesses at the party and showing the police where they dumped the remains. I am utterly appauled that these boys could so callously dump the remains in a drainage ditch and then laugh it off. That scares me just as much as the act of desecrating a grave. |

Im a full pledged witch and well im not fully goth but i do wear dark clothing (as in the "angel" or david boreanaz style) . YOu cant just point fingers and call someone a satanist. These young men Desecrated graves as a joke! Other kids are afraid of them. One is described as "quiet". They wear black, listen to what is, at least locally, considered black metal music, and they bragged about what they did. Apart from the crime, none of the other elements is abnormal, but when you put them all together, they paint a very disturbing picture. What are thes young men truly capable of doing? AND WHERE THE HELL ARE THEIR PARENTS?!!?? |

Wess' parents don't believe any Satanic rituals were involved." See, this is funny because "Goth" means black clothing and body piercings. I wear black clothing and have a few piercings but I dont consider myself "Goth." This is also funny because, after stating that the kids are "Goth, " they had to mention that no satanic rituals were performed. Because being a "Goth" automatically would mean satanic rituals? "Sossi's attorney, Dan Dolewski, did not return calls for comment. A female neighbor said the teen "made a lot of noise. He's not a very nice kid." Yes, because noisy teenagers are not very nice kids. Riiiiiight . . . "noisy" describes EVERY teenager. I mean, geez, my 17 year old cousin in-law listens to Chopin at blasting decibels! :) A classmate described Herz and Sossi as "scary, " and said the two "listen to Metallica, dress in black and look like they worship the devil." And this is the kicker . .. Metallica is scary and associated with the devil? HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Metallica is SOOOOO tame compared to most of the other "devil music" out there. :) This was the crappiest article I have read in a long time. Are we sure this wasnt pulled from the highschool newspaper? It reads like it was written by an illiterate 15 year old. |
